During the match, Johnny went for a springboard legdrop, one of his signature moves, on Funk. Now, the move is normally done from the top rope to the inside of the ring, however, Funk was on the outside, laid out on the floor. Johnny was so keyed up that he went for the move on the floor, still from the top rope, adding nearly a 3-foot drop to what you normally get with the move in the process. The move connected…and wound up costing Johnny two months of his career. Upon impact, not only did he seriously damage his hips, but actually tore his urethra in the process. Although the move looked good, the damage wound up not being worth the risk. Fourteen years later, he still deals with the pain the move caused.www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7yDqXMDD1EArhteru is urethra spelled backwards

If I remember correctly, Johnny could barely make it back into the ring and finish the match.

You just wonder how he thought it was remotely a good idea. That sucks for the guy.

That may have been the dumbest spot during a generation of dumb spots. I mean how do you even expect to not get severely hurt doing that one!?

I understand breaking your ass, but how does that move result in a torn urethra?

The urethra is next to his ovaries, correct?

That's a great move. I want to see someone else do it.

I understand breaking your ass, but how does that move result in a torn urethra? I heard Jim Ross' voice in my head with his "How do you learn how to fall off a twenty foot ladder?!" inflection in my head. Come to think about, a "Don't do this at home!" PSA with Johnny The Bull mentioning tearing his urethra would be a lot more affective in curtailing yard tards or guys going into the indies without training that it'd be the only example used. Johnny The Bull: I tore my urethra. Voice Over Announcer: Don't try this at home. *Fade to black*

Guys in the 90s and early 2000s really did spots that we look back and think "Just...why?"

I always liked Johnny stamboli. I feel his height was what held him back.

I understand breaking your ass, but how does that move result in a torn urethra? From what I've heard, apparently Stamboli super needed to take a piss as well.

I also seem to remember that several people told him before the match that it would be a bloody stupid thing to do, and he did it anyway. He wasn't in the spur of the moment, he wanted to do a big move and thought this'd be dynamite.

Just goes to show how terrible WCW was when somebody wants to take a piss break during their own match.

A buddy of mine tore his urethra when he crashed his bicycle. It's a gruesome thing to go through.

That may have been the dumbest spot during a generation of dumb spots. I mean how do you even expect to not get severely hurt doing that one!? What made matters worse was He was told several times not to do the move as it looked idiotic and was extremely dangerous which a high risk of injury yet he chose to ignore all those who told him that and payed the price.

I'm surprised WWE never got behind him. It seemed like he really busted his ass in WCW.
