I forget, but there was a guy who just hated him on here when he was G-Rilla and made like he was the absolute worst thing ever. That would be our resident Square I believe @irontyger remembers, it was a running joke in FAN idol No I believe that was Spankymac.

I had him tell Brodus that he still sucked, to which he responded with "My Bad!"

He was so entertaining during that first match, then they made him stop shouting things whilst wrestling. A few weeks after his debut they took him off TV for a while because he got too popular too quickly.

I remember this breaking the fandom for a while. Me, I was laughing so hard at it, especially Curt Hawkins' "f*** my life" face and "My bad". It was entertaining, so no surprise it got neutered in fairly short order.
Heck, even the announcers sounded genuinely excited to see him for a while, and they hardly ever get genuinely excited about anything.

I maintain that they should have tried feuding Lord Tensai with Brodus Clay if they wanted to get him over as a heel monster.

It was a good gimmick. Could have been the new Rikishi. Let him have short matches and do a comedy dance. Perfect for cooling down a crowd after a more intense segment or match. I'm always amazed when creative tells guys "we don't have anything for you" when they DID, but for whatever reason WWE got bored with it after a few months.

Fun gimmick that Brodus did great in. Although this is example A of modern WWE booking: they come up with a funny idea with no plan for what to do if it actually gets over. Then it dies a slow miserable death as they try to find out what the next step is (or they outright kill it cuz it wasn't supposed to happen). Pretty much what is likely going to happen with Mizdow.

They did a really weird thing with Brodus where he was around for a bit, people were reacting to him and getting into it and then they took him off TV for two weeks.
Then he got good reactions, then they took him off for another week.
Like...Brodus wasn't going to be the next big megastar but it seemed like they didn't expect him to be as over as he was.
Which doesn't make sense, but this was the company that thought giving Finlay a dwarf dressed as a leprechaun was going to take away his overness so...

I LOVED his random verbal interactions with the fans while he wrestled, with "my bad!" and "should I go get him?" It added such a fun dimension to his gimmick. I would have loved it if and Damien Sandow teamed up and Sandow taught him to ask the crowd increasingly over-grammaticized questions, would have been an absolute riot.

I didn't really care for him.
Certainly he was over. Certainly it was the best way they coulda went with him.
It still got really old for me very quickly, and I still thought he sucked.

I totally forgot about them taking him off TV for a few weeks with no explanation (with the dirt sheets saying it was because he was 'unsafe'). What was that about?

"OH YOU DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING"
I loved Brodus at first because it was very different then anything I ever expected. That, and with him being hyped as a monster heel just to come out dancing!
It was great for a while...but then they didn't really have him do anything besides dance and he lost his novelty.

I forget, but there was a guy who just hated him on here when he was G-Rilla and made like he was the absolute worst thing ever. There was more than one IIRC to the point where someone posted one of his FCW matches and the entire thread was talking about how much he sucked when in reality it was a typical big guy squash match.

Remember Mr Excitement posting on twitter or something about Brodus' delayed debut and how this was always going to be the week?

We saw too much of the guy. For some reason WWE felt the need to have him on every episode of RAW
A novelty act needs to be used sparingly. Otherwise people get bored quick.

What really made that moment is that normally we get spoilers that diminish any sense of insanity from RAW. That moment though?
It was as out of nowhere as a goddamn RKO.

I remember cracking the f*** up when he made his Funkasaurus debut because it was so out of left field.

Amidst his debut, it was great when that one guy in the crowd yells YOU SUCK BRODUS!
Reminded me of the completely inappropriate "YOU SUCK!" when Taker lost at mania and was being all serious leaving the ring.
