I've noticed that there seems to be a decent sized collection of hip-hop heads here, and after a few threads have devolved into a rap discussion I figured I should make this thread to put it all in one place.
What has everyone been listening to lately? The new Kanye single either was really leaked or Mike Dean let it loose, due to not knowing the exact circumstances I won't post it but it's a great song.

Liking what I'm hearing from Apathy and FinaL OutlaW.
If you haven't heard it yet check out "Don't Shoot" by Grandmaster Melle Mel where he throws down about the current state of rap lyrics.

Let me just drop some random personal "hip hop" opinions
Checked out All Day and didn't really enjoy it and I actually ENJOYED Yeezus .
i actually enjoy Young Thug's music .
Relapse is a very unique album and the production is very underrated , the accents didn't bother me .
Drake is getting way to repetitive now .
Snoop Dogg / 50 Cent / Eminem are BEYOND rap , not only are they household names but they are HUGE worldwide .
Juicy J's solo production is underrated
The D.O.C is the most underrated rap artist of all time
besides there 3rd album , The Clipse's albums are easily TOP 20 and the production is insane .
DJ Quik is much better than Dr. Dre
Bizzy Bone could've been a much bigger rap star solo wise
Ice Cube's Album "Raw Footage" is easily he's best album
Zach De La Rocha (did I spell that right ? -_-) could've have been HUGE solo wise if he had decided to drop a rap album.
Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole are insanely overrated , but I see J. Cole being the bigger artist in the long run .
I see Wiz Khalifa being much bigger than rap (much like Snoop)
I also feel ASAP mob will end up like Bone Thugs n Harmony after Eazy's death
SpaceGhostPurrp is easily this generations BEST producer , though he ruined any chance of having a career

Anyone here listen to Montana of 300? His Coco remix has become my favorite pre-workout song.

I'm glad this thread isn't just a sea of unwatched YouTube embeds, like how these hip-hop threads have gone in the past. Can we institute a rule of for every embedded clip you need to write a minimum three sentences about the clip? Also, just to get some dialogue going... DJ Quik is much better than Dr. Dre Ice Cube's Album "Raw Footage" is easily he's best album I see Wiz Khalifa being much bigger than rap (much like Snoop) SpaceGhostPurrp is easily this generations BEST producer , though he ruined any chance of having a career These four you have to back up. I agree with a lot of your opinions, and disagree with a few but can chalk them up to subjective taste. I can even almost see the Quik one if we're talking about being prolific because while I don't think any Quik album touches Chronic or 2001, Quik's got an absurdly consistent discography and is one of three rappers (E-40 and Scarface) who've maintained a presence in rap with regular releases for over two decades and never needed a "comeback" since they were always here. But how is Raw Footage in any way better than Amerikkka, Death Certificate or even Predator? Like, at all at all? And what do you mean by "bigger than rap?" SGP had a really exciting style when he was sample heavy around 2011, and getting a European techno label to buy him sweet new equipment in 2012 lead to some interesting vibes, but when he stopped using samples and became super cloud-rap he really lost my interest. Plus, this generation has Hit Boy, Stoned Zoo, Left Brain (if he's still making music), DJ Mustard (his work on the YG album was stellar), Metro Boomin', etc. What's SGP really done between 2014 and now that's really blown you away?

Let me just drop some random personal "hip hop" opinions Let me respond with my own opinions. All Day is different than Yeezus, Yeezus had a lot more noise and industrial influences while All Day has a lot of obvious cloud/trap basis, probably from all the work Kanye has been doing with Travi$ Scott. Also, any song with the line "Like a lightskinned slave, we in the motherf***ing house" is so many flame emojis. Same, he's not too bad of a lyricist either. Relapse might be Em's best album from a pure rapping standpoint. Some of his flows are mindblowing, the album just gets overlooked because of the horrendous singles and Em's own hatred for the period the album was recorded in. Relapse is right below as Six Feet Under by the Gravediggaz in terms of great horrorcore albums. That mixtape was very very repetitive, but it was a mixtape so I can't really make any statements off a collection of throwaways. Em is only a household name because he's white and Snoop is a joke to the majority of non-rap listeners. Indeed. I've never listened to No One Can Do It Better, but based off his ghostwriting I agree. Full disclosure, I'm probably in the top 10 biggest Clipse fans in the world, so this doesn't mean much, but yes. Everything yes. That's not really even fair, Dre hasn't been "Dre" in almost 20 years now. He's more of a Phil Spector-type producer, who puts everything together and takes care of the mastering and engineering. Quik is that dude tho. If he went solo in '98, maybe. I actually agree, for some reason Cube fits amazingly over "crunk" beats. He still could have it in him, he's been doing more and more rapping as of late. f*** your bitch and the clique you claim. I don't know, in the mainstream Wiz is that Jar Jar Binks looking stoner who somehow married Amber Rose. I never even thought about this, but you might be right. Yams was the one who told Rocky to use more of the Memphis style and did a lot of the promo stuff for the Mob. He has some great beats, but he's not even the best at that style of his generation. Shawn Kemp is an animal, too bad he doesn't even like being well known for really anything he does.

Considering that I've been on his dick since 2012, I'm glad that Logic is blowing up. "Under Pressure" was great and I can't wait to see what he comes up with in the next few years.

I'll be real, Death Grips is starting to grow on me. "I've Seen Footage" & "I Want It, I Need It" get me fired up during the day.

Ludacris' first four albums were very underrated lyrically in my opinion. Don't know what you guys think, but I wanted to put that out there.

Which is fine Raw Footage is ice cubes best album in "IMO" I never cared for hes earlier work And what has SGP done from 2014 to "blow me away" ? Nothing at all honestly besides the bizzare Twitter rants don't even get me started on the Lil Shark situation

Raw Footage is ice cubes best album in "IMO" I never cared for hes earlier work When was the last time you listened to those first two Cube albums? Amerikkka had a Cube in his NWA prime backed by Public Enemy's bomb squad for the whole album, and Death Certificate was a fearless brooding west coast Lench Mob produced masterpiece. Even based on your other tastes, I really don't see how either of those records don't appeal to you.
