Raw Footage is ice cubes best album in "IMO" I never cared for hes earlier work When was the last time you listened to those first two Cube albums? Amerikkka had a Cube in his NWA prime backed by Public Enemy's bomb squad for the whole album, and Death Certificate was a fearless brooding west coast Lench Mob produced masterpiece. Even based on your other tastes, I really don't see how either of those records don't appeal to you. You know , I'll give them a listen today , maybe my opinion will change

To jump onto this Cube discussion, I find Death Certificate to be better than AmeriKKKa. They're both great, but overall I prefer Death Certificate just because it is easier to listen to all the way through for me.

If anyone is into a more electronic/instrumental Hip-Hop style, I suggest giving guys like Samiyam and 9th Wonder a listen, they make some damn good stuff.

Also, what's the general concensus on Aesop Rock? He's got some good stuff.

He did a collab with Kimya Dawson a couple years ago that was pretty good called THe Uncluded. He's also working on a Hail Mary Mallon album.

that's what I've been listening to this week. I guess it's kind of like a modern take on trip hop, quite spaced out, chilled.
Also recommend these, one of my favourite albums of last year. they came out of scotland which I couldn't believe when I was first told it. I could see them being from London, but Glasgow?
this is one of the more chilled tracks, there's quite alot of upbeat tracks on it too, I love how all over the place the album is, lots of influence from different sources on display:
anyone recommend anything else along these lines?
also been listening to both the Run The Jewels albums alot recently, and R.A.P Music by Killer Mike. Need to check out Death Grips new stuff which I'll get round to at some point.

Kanye's new single Wolves drops on iTunes this Tues. If you didn't hear it yet, expect to hear an 808's track, but stripped to the bone.

This isn't a true hip hop thread without this classic.

Anyone else check out the new Mello Music Group compilation "Persona"? The whole thing is incredible, with tracks from Phonte and Big Rapper Pooh from Little Brother (not on the same track though), Oddisee, Open Mike Eagle, Ras Kass, and a bunch of others.

I'm so hype for the next King Kendrick album. While I agree, I think I'm more excited to hear what Action Bronson got on the 23rd with Mr. Wonderful. Been waiting for a minute for it to drop. Dude is too nice.

I have to think about this a bit more, but Cube's gotta have a Top 10 discography in rap history right? That run from Straight Outta Compton to Predator is unbeatable

Kendrick's new album To Pimp a Butterfly drops in 12 days. I love the concept , but isn't being signed to Interscope basicly a contradiction itself

Kanye's last 2 records still disappoint me , Wolves would be 100% better with out the rapping and just Sia

For those interested, the track listing for "To Pimp A Butterfly" was released.
1. Wesley’s Theory 2. For Free? (Interlude) 3. King Kunta 4. Institutionalized 5. These Walls 6. U 7. Alright 8. For Sale? (Interlude) 9. Momma 10. Hood Politics 11. How Much A Dollar Cost 12. Complexion 13. The Blacker The Berry 14. You Ain’t Gotta Lie (Momma Said) 15. I 16. Mortal Man
We obviously know what "I" and "The Blacker the Berry" are but some of these titles sound interesting. It's also worth noting that this doesn't list any features so I'm sure they'll be some surprises on there.
