Almost forgot to mention, but that Big Grams EP is fantastic Yeah, I'm in love with this thing. Hip-hop/rock/pop colliding can be a beautiful thing. I play guitar and I want to make that work in a hip-hop context, and it's really hard to find people who want to do that. Now, they need to go on tour, and do a show closer to me than Cincy/Chicago/Detroit, unlike every other hip-hop act I want to see.

According to the track listing for Beiber's new album, Nas appears on one of the tracks.
...Let that sink in for a second.

Easy solution, just listen to Life Is Good and hope that his next album (which is apparently due out next year) will be that good. Or if you don't like Life Is Good, y'know, Illmatic is and always will be a thing.

No discussion of the 2 new Game albums? Both are great works of West coast hip hop.

No discussion of the 2 new Game albums? Both are great works of West coast hip hop. He's just such an awful rapper who has made some terrible albums in the past, so I'm super hesitant to check for anything he does. The critical acclaim is promising and he has a great ear for beats, but I don't know how much name-dropping, style-mimicing and 2005 wistful bitter obsessiveness I can handle. Is it better than Doctor's Advocate?

The Game has nothing discernible about his style other than sounding like a bargain-bin version of whichever rapper he's sharing a track with. It's embarrassing, why would I want to listen to an imposter of the better rapper who is only getting 1/3 of a great beat? He's hip-hop's Ditto from Pokémon. It is not effective.

I like someone who can make an incredibly diverse project sound cohesive like The Documentary or Jesus Piece. I understand what you mean, though.

I think strong rap discographies should have strong rapping on them. The R.E.D. Album has some of the worst rapping of any mainstream release this decade. Again, he has a stellar ear for beats, but he's so unbelievably derivative when it comes to putting words together over a beat.

I have never heard this downplay on Game's skills as an MC until I posted on this thread. Most consider him anywhere from average to very good in the lyrics department, as well as possessing an almost unmatched arsenal of flows and the aforementioned amazing ear for beats. I get a lot of enjoyment from Game albums. His mixtapes are hit or miss, but there are few I can think of when it comes to his consistency with albums.

So I have been listening to some 90s gangsta rap and for all of the good stuff there is some really embarrassing stuff on some of those tracks. I'm looking at you Biggie and the outro on "Who Shot Ya?" where it breaks down into a little skit with some guy(supposedly Pac I guess) begging for his life while Biggie is all like "Can't talk with a gun in your mouth".
B.I.G is by no means even the most guilty rapper of shit like this, but when I heard that today all I could think of was just how lame that it is in retrospect.

That's funny, I thought the same thing today listening to Warning from Ready to Die. There's that skit at the end where the guys are outside Biggie's house like "you've got a red dot on your forehead" "you've got a red dot on your forehead too" "....OH SHIT!" It's really stupid.
