Also, to be fair(I do say that too often, I guess, but I do try to present the other side when reasonable), it isn't like the ROH debacle was a fair test of the character. He was getting booed outrageously before even hit the ring, and it wouldn't have likely been much warmer a reception even without the mask. Jeff Hardy was not a wildly popular man with ROH's demographic of the time, as he was seen as a guy who WWE had given many opportunities and chances and who was an eternal f***up who pissed it all away. He would only gain some good will back in later years, but at the time, he was a joke to them. Willow was something Jeff was doing back during his OMEGA days. His debut in ROH was bad because only the circumstances surrounding his firing from WWE and his performance in the match but Ring of Honor at the time was ground zero of smarkdom. And Hardy was a persona non grata of smarks at the time. Hardy could came out to the ring with nude strippers and tossing 100 dollar bills into the crowd and they would still booed. Agreed. I forget if Jeff in his WWF jobber days ever did Will O' The Wisp/Willow. I remember him and Matt wrestled at least one match in masks back then, as the Jinx Brothers or something like that. Matt would make all of their costumes, so they were free to try some pretty gaudy shit if they so chose.

It wasn't a bad idea and would have made more sense if he'd played on it like Muto does when he wrestles as The Great Muta. But he didn't. It was just Jeff Hardy with a brolly. That doesn't really 'equal rating's......... The idea of hitting the reset button on Jeff's career by having him portray a new character wasn't an entirely bad idea. Might have been good if they had gone the route Sting did when he first started doing his Crow gimmick. But instead we just got Jeff Hardy in mask acting crazier/stupider than normal. And that's saying something.

It was like Malibu Stacy with a new hat, except it was same old half-assing Jeff Hardy...with a new mask!
It sucked.

The good kind of wrestlecrap imo. It was stupid, but it was stupid in a fun way where I can watch it and enjoy how dumb it is. I think people get too caught up on the kind of wrestlecrap that makes them furious at how bad it is. Willow was amusingly awful, rather than infuriatingly awful.

Damn it, you spoiled Roman's special Mania entrance.

Willow was such a f***ing goofy thing that I was begging them to make it more crazy and they just didn't.

I liked her most in the beginning, where she had the overalls and was all dorky. She was always neat, but the lesbian witch era wasn't as interesting. to be fair her brief heel turn was interesting. Findind out she's a size queen in real life made me dislike her in a "lack of respect" way. Always a Faith guy....

The umbrella gets on my nerves. Or, well, it did.
I would've enjoyed the Willow thing if it was similar to what Balor does with the paint in NXT, but I don't recall there being all that much narrative momenteum around the introduction of the Willow character. It was just Jeff being banned from the Impact Zone, then went mental. Then he stopped.
