I don't think they even care about the crowd reaction at this point.

He'll get booed at the Raw after mania and that'll be a relief for them as at least they can react to it. At the moment in only the entering through the crowd is saving him from Del Rioesque reactions.

Bingo. No matter how many times they make Bryan lose the fans still think he's the one. And Bryan doesn't actually lose that much (he's lost four times this year, which is only one more loss than Cena has had and two more than Reigns), so that's a monument to WWE's "ability" to not talk up his achievements to the point where some seemingly consider him some Zack Ryder-esque jobber. I was talking about having Bryan lose the Rumble and then a match against Reigns to effectively rule him out of the main event but you've got a good point.

There's just so many better choices than Roman. It's crazy how stubborn this company is. "THIS IS THE GUY!" "No, we like this guy better, and we're kind of paying to be here..." "f*** YOU! WE'RE DOING IT THIS WAY!" * buys tickets anyways *

You can only slap the core audience in the mouth so many times. The problem with throwing the fans a bone at WM XXX was now they want the steak.

WWE has way bigger problems than Roman's reaction at this point.

Brock Lesnar.... -is the Destructor. -could no-sell actual, clinical death -was booked to squash the ever loving shit out of John Cena in the Main Event of the 2nd biggest PPV of the year -is a goddamn scary individual even outside of kayfabe.
Shit, if I were in attendance i'd cheer him out of fear that if I didn't he'd notice. And he'd come for me. And hurt me.

You mean *buys tickets before the main event is announced, hoping they would put the most over guy on the card in the main event* right? Right; especially at this point, the very name "WrestleMania" is what sells the ticket much more than any announced match. I can't say for certain when tickets go on sale, but people will grab a ticket without knowing a single match on the card, I'd wager. Personally, I can't begin to grasp why they would, but I get it, it's a huge event, and the actual quality of the show is kind of secondary to just being in that setting, I guess.

Now, now, now listen here's my plan. WrestleMania sells itself, so a lot of smarks will show up. Now, wait, listen...the smarks will know Lesnar's contract is up the Raw after Mania. So they'll boo him. It's brilliant!! Now, hopefully the smarks will never hear of this plan or it all falls to pieces.......Say, did you hear they have the internet on computers now?

Really, this just serves to make you wonder, was anybody backstage actually watching Cena / Jericho at SummerSlam 2005? It was this exact same scenario and the crowd was cheering for Jericho anyway.

They also need to worry about a possible Axelmania chant if the Reigns match is boring enough. The audience that Axel is gaining popularity with is precisely the audience that leads smart ass chants. If that happens, it would send a very loud clear message about Reigns popularity and overall satisfaction with the show and company

For the position that Reigns is in, he should be getting cheered by 95% of the crowd. Anything else is a fail. So the question isn't if he will fail, it's how badly.

Law of diminishing returns. Happened in the '90s, it'll happen again, competition or not. You can only slap the core audience in the mouth so many times. The problem with throwing the fans a bone at WM XXX was now they want the steak. There are already signs of it happening. Raw's ratings have been dipping lower then they were around this time last year, and that's with it being Wrestlemania season. The time which is supposed to be the zenith of their booking. Of course the three hours certainly don't help matters either.

This will always be the WWE's problem from now until the end of time. The more information about future plans is accessible, the less the effect of the plan as people decide before seeing the show if they like the plan or the show. Most people never change their mind either. Most people hating on Reigns going into a RAW or even Mania will not be converted. So once the plan is on the internet or in dirt sheets, it gives fans time to decide on their opinion and then lock it in early. If everyone in the arena already knew that the fingerpoke of doom was going to happen, or the Montreal screwjob, or Hogan was going to 100% for sure bodyslam Andre, etc. it would have changed the outcome of the booking, and those moments wouldn't be legendary. This is why there are fewer legendary moments in today's show. Even Bryan winning at XXX is tarnished forever because of how mad at the booking people are. Looking back 20 years later you aren't going to remember being in awe that Bryan did it and tell your kid the story of amazement and wonder (like my grandpa told me about Hogan slamming Andre), you are going to remember how pissed you were that WWE screwed up in the first place, and how they screwed his booking going forward. My gramps would have been like "you should have been there, they screwed up all of Andre's credibility going forward, and he never even got a decent title run, and SuperHogan was being shoved down our throats LOLHOGANWINS"

Hogan at Mania III/Bryan at XXX ain't a good comparison at all; just not on any level.

I'm going to totally disagree with that. I consider WM XXX one of the all-time great wrestling moments and what happened after has absolutely no bearing on that. Warrior-Hogan was one of the all-time memorable classic matches, very few people remember or care that Warrior's reign following that match was largely a disaster and forgettable. In the end the big moments outweigh the small things. In 20 years DB's win and Wrestlemania moment will still be looked at fondly.

I don't think he'll even get booed. I think the crowd will chant for everything BUT Lesnar or Reigns.
The bigger problem will be the Raw after, as if the last couple years indicate, that most of the Mania crowd have bought up the raw tickets. Having the typically large tv audience see Reigns get shat upon with explosive diarrhea from the crowd might be fun.
