Forget retirement, I see with Goldust teasing something about the IC title, it makes me wonder if anyone else here wants to see one more run/last run with the title?
Since he won't get a world title run, maybe this is his thank you title run. Then he drops it to Cody and disappears forever.

Normally I'd say yes, but right now with Daniel Bryan and Ambrose really gunning for it (and Ziggler always in the mix), it's a tough scene for Goldust or Cody to hold it. Especially Goldust as a babyface, since there are so many really over babyfaces going for it.
In general I do like the idea though. Just, maybe when Bryan and Ambrose are back in the title picture facing Rollins etc. Goldust claims he's not retiring, so I guess there's no rush.

Maybe in a few months when all the other part-timers or old-timers are out of the way.
One of The Afterthought Trio needs to win that ladder match so it's not all nostalgia and mainstream madness at Wrestlemania.

Only if he's going to retire. He deserves a least one more thank you run for the amazing work from 2013 alone. I prefer he Ambrose walks out of Mania champ though. If he doesn't, he's going to look like a bit of a fool for running about with the belt for weeks.

He could have been the WWE champion in 2013 and I would have been fine with that

I'd honestly give him the WWE Title, and if not the belt, then I'd at least let him headline/close a few shows, at least on SmackDown. Imo the IC Title isn't a good enough "thank you" gesture when he's held it already Back when it meant more and when he was playing a much better and more star worthy gimmick.

How do you go from losing to The Usos and Los Matadors to WWE champion though? Let him wrestle higher profile opponents, and Make him darker and edgier. Something similar to his 90s persona. |
