I like how they've tried to emulate Raw, with the big entrance stage, and having the fighters come out by themselves.

Thurman looks good but he has a massive egg on his head. Great sight in HD.

I'm just kind of half watching right now. But I will say this, I saw that NBC Sports Network had a show called "Corner to Corner" about the fighters on the card and that is one of the best thing you can do to get people interested in boxing again is to let them know who the hell these guys are. One of the big reasons the NFL is so popular is all of the thorough pre-game programming. It's impossible not to know the back stories of the players, coaches and teams going into each game and why said game is important to all involved (and that's one of the many things I feel holds the NHL back is that people aren't as educated about the game as they about the NFL, NBA, or MLB). Right now, most of the general public (myself included) really only know Mayweather, Pacquiao, and Klitschko (and a lot of Klitschko's mainstream recognition is from his relationship with Hayden Panettiere). So educating the public as to who these guys are is essential (and is one of many reasons MMA usurped boxing as America's favorite combat sport is how well they put over who these people are.

I think Guerrero is running on pure rage at this point.

Ghost should have been taking Thurman to the ropes 4 rounds ago.

That was a tremendous main event. Terrific fight for NBC's first primetime boxing show in who knows how long. Thurman looks good but he has a massive egg on his head. Great sight in HD.

As my wife put it, that's just his head now. That's how his head is shaped from now on.

Before tonight the last time NBC showed a fight in prime time was Larry Holmes vs. Carl "The Truth" Williams in what turned out to be Holmes last successful defense of the heavyweight title. This was in 1985.

I knew it was in the pre-closed circuit TV era so I was thinking early 80s. I think having two primetime bouts every couple of months would be great to introduce the future of the sport in front of much larger audience than they would outside of preliming for a Mayweather or Pacquiao card.

I think there is an afternoon CBS bout coming in a few weeks, a Spike Prime time then another NBC on April 7th.

I wonder if boxing promoters have realized that as fragile as network television has become, it's still a much better way to introduce good prospects to casual boxing fans like myself. Because I would never buy a PPV (although I will definitely be at a bar for the Pac/Floyd fight in two months).
