A funny note about Summerslam 2003, me and my brother had some friends over to watch it. Had pizza and soda and everybody was going nuts when Goldberg went on his rampage and then when Triple H won...everybody slowly left one by one. Nobody talked, it was just like all the happiness was sucked out of the room. While they left, me and my brother just sat there as the replay went on, he went to clean and I just sat there for about fifteen more minutes. Even my mom, who didn't like wrestling was into Goldberg's rampage before she left for work asked me about the match the next day.
Mom: Did Goldberg win?
Me: He lost.
Mom: How?
Me: He got hit with a fake sledgehammer.
Mom: That's just stupid.

It got silent and the air seemed to be vacuumed out of our house. I'm pretty sure my mom thought it was as stupid as yours did too. The only other time we reacted that way to the end of a pay-per-view was WrestleMania 17. Triple H's match at WrestleMania 19 several months earlier is also on my list. I'm pretty sure WrestleMania 2000 would be as well, but I wasn't a big fan until about two months after that. JBL winning the title in 2004 comes to mind as well. We all knew it was coming, but that didn't make it any easier to accept. Some of the forums and websites I visited at the time had near-riots. And in part because of this, Great American Bash 2004 was the first WWE pay-per-view I didn't order in four years. That looks to have been money well saved.

I wasn't watching regularly, and probably only got a taste of it at PPVs and my brother telling me about it, but the Michael Cole/Jerry Lawler feud would have done it for me.

Now I'm thinking about that very match and the way our hhhero(!) managed to make Goldberg his bitch and add him to the list of victims of his self-aggrandising reign of terror. I'm getting angry just thinking about it........

Ric Flair winning the '92 Rumble after Hogan helped him dump Sid. The end of my time as a Hulkamaniac. Wow! Considering your knowledge and love of the Southern territories, I never would have pegged you as a WWF fan, let alone a Hulkamaniac. I watched and loved it all. WWF, Crockett, AWA, World Class, 2 hours of Mexican midget wrestling without hearing a word of English, if it was wrestling, I watched it and loved it. Plus, you have to remember that I was 9 when the '92 Rumble took place.

I've never attempted a dropkick on any electronics device personally. I doubt it would end well.

I had watched wrestling at every single opportunity since 1997 (I was a regular watcher until the mid-90s and only bothered watching if I just noticed it was on, but I didn't follow it anymore). Every Raw, Smackdown, Heat, even the recap shows. Until 2004. First, JBL of all people beating Eddie for the WWE title made me stop watching Smackdown, and then when Orton beat Benoit for the World Heavyweight Title made me stop watching WWE regularly altogether, and I haven't watched any current product regularly since and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Only time that almost changed was during Bryan's rise to the top.

The Barbershop, Michaels putting Janetty through the window... Had just started watching wrestling as a kid at that point a few months ago, the rockers were my favourites, me fully in kayfabe-believe-mode... is was so shocked As far as angry about the outcome... the 92 Rumble a few weeks later and Ric Flair winning.

First of all, I want to start by saying that Stanley Blackburn of the AWA was the worst President ever. With that being said, Superclash III - Kerry Von Erich vs Jerry Lawler. These two were having unification matches in both the AWA and WCCW, but matches would always end in controversy and this one was no different, except it ended because of poor judgement that screwed Kerry Von Erich out of the titles.
After the previous match (which was an Indian Strap match) between Wahoo McDaniel and Manny fernandez, Blackburn ruled during the ppv that if the referee determines that there is too much blood, that he is to stop the match. Well, the match he decided to stop was the TITLE UNIFICATION MATCH! while Kerry had Lawler down in the Iron claw, clearly in control with Lawler not moving. But the stupid referee kept checking Kerry, who was bleeding because of Lawler, who worked him over with a foreign object earlier in the match. Even though Kerry was in full control with the claw and Lawler was down, with his shoulders on the mat. But the ref kept checking Kerry again and again and stopped the match, awarding both belts to Lawler, who was unconscious on the mat, instead of doing his job and counting Lawler out and giving the match to Kerry. All because he was bleeding "too much" and completely ignoring the situation in the ring. No wonder the AWA went out of business, since they had such an inept President. /Kayfabe

The only fracas over a finish was....SSlam '89; my brother and I (7 and 12 at the time) basically lost it after the end of the Martel & Twin Towers/Tito & Rockers match. Like, to the point where my dad stopped short of physical violence against us. He gave us a most unpleasant and loud verbal thrashing, so much so that my brother just went to bed crying and I sat near the TV watching the rest of the show in almost complete silence. The phrase "Well that escalated quickly" was created to describe that exact moment, I think. EDIT: I'm not describing domestic abuse or something, hell no. Just.........a spine-shivering moment of fear for 2 kids whose dad verbally snapped in a way he never had before. (We must've REALLY ticked him off.) A moment that currently makes me feel bad describing it for the first time in over 20 years...

Kayfabe still lives on in some part of my psyche, so most of mine stem from favorites losing. 8 The streak ending was a good example... I simply do not understand why you just flush 21 years of history down the toilet based on an old mans' whims.
I didn't like Mankind winning the Boiler Room Brawl and Paul Bearer turning on 'Taker. 8 year old me considered this a miscarriage of justice. I stopped watching WWE at that point, and missed most of the attitude era.
A couple of stints during the "Reign of terror" nearly made me rage quit, too... the Booker T and the Goldberg feuds being the obvious ones.

Booker T, Wrestlemania 19. This. And when King Booker got taken out by HHH, brought all those memories back. I think most of the worst moments I've had as a WWE watcher has had something to do with HHH.

I think most of the worst moments I've had as a WWE watcher has had something to do with HHH. Continues to this day with the Sting match on Sunday. I didn't even get to see the match since I was working, but as soon as I heard the result, I was furious. HHH had nothing to gain by winning and nothing to lose by taking the loss. So of course he won. I have never wanted any two people off of my television forever as I do him and his wife.
