Watched the full arch video. It kinda looks like when manic lands on the ropes as well that Aguayos neck really jolted back off the bounce of the rope.

I haven't watched the video, but Wikipedia says the rope hit his trachea. Considering it's Wikipedia, can anyone else confirm his throat was hit?

My curiosity finally got the better of me and I watched the video (there is one with the full match on Youtube), It was just a freak incident that nobody could have predicted.
None of the wrestlers, despite how guilty they may feel at the moment, deserve to take any blame for it. How many times has Rey set up the 619 in a similar way without any issue?
I don't know if it would have made any difference, but the reactions of the people, when it was realised that there was something wrong, could have been better. WWE gets a lot of criticism for many reasons, but you know that in a similar situation they would have medical attention there within seconds, and would have no issues with stopping a match, no matter how big/important it was.
It reminds you just how dangerous wrestling is, a person lost their life taking a basic move. Condolences to his friends, fans and family.

It's sort of morbid, but if the video you have shows the spot before he landed in the ropes, could you PM me the link? Don't share it here, people would be upset and they don't have to see it if they don't want to, but I have to see what went wrong.

I haven't watched the video, but Wikipedia says the rope hit his trachea. Considering it's Wikipedia, can anyone else confirm his throat was hit? Rey gave him a headscissors and it looks like maybe that was supposed to be the set up for the 619, but he went out the ring then immediately came back in. Looking at it again, he was moving slowly at this point, so something may have happened with the headscissors. When he gets back in the ring, Rey dropkicks him in the side/ back and he lands in the set up for the 619. I can't see anything unusual about the way he hit, his arms were in the usual position above the middle rope, but there was definitely something wrong by this point. Then Manik lands next to him on the ropes, which causes them to bounce some more.

It's shocking... you know that it's very physical and people get injured, but when people actually die... a freak accident during what was just a routine spot...
Condolences to his family and friends.
Rest in peace, Perro Aguayo Jr.

This is just awful, but what I hate is how I found out. Coworker told me to look on the Internet because Rey Mysterio killed a guy in the ring last night. NOT what happened, this was a total freak accident and I'm sure Rey will be having a hard time dealing as it is. He needs support, not condemnation. Which makes me angry because you know some assholes are going to call him a murderer for this. It's gonna be another Misawa situation all over again.

Here's what I see, maybe.
1) He rushes in into Rey in the corner, Rey kicks him, he flips backward and concusses himself. 2) He sort of awkwardly sets himself up for the headscissors, takes it, but in his concussed states awkwardly bumps through the ropes and hits his head on the apron. Maybe some spine damage on this that leads to... 3) Comes back in, sluggishly, takes a dropkick, bumps in the rope and either the contact with the ropes wrecks his trachea and neck or the whiplash breaks his neck.
I think the way his body moves when Manik bumps in the ropes shows that he was already out before that, but Manik bumping into them, Manik and Konnan moving him and shaking him didn't do any good.
And we now have confirmation that he died at 1AM at the hospital, so... not putting the blame on anyone, they didn't know, but they tell you to NOT move a guy that got hurt in the neck area.
A friend tells me that the ropes in Mexico are high-tension because the guys use them to do tricks all the time, but I've never been in a Mexican ring or been to a show in Mexico. Is the 619 setup something that you see a lot in Lucha? Landing in the ropes that way?
Anyway, what a bummer for the wrestling family this morning. On the first day of spring too, death hit on the day life returns.
Descanza en paz, Perro.

Man. I just saw this announced on Facebook, and I came rushing here to learn what happened. Absolutely horrible accident, and as was said, it's really a reminder of just how dangerous wrestling can be. RIP.

As others have said, it's insane that a move that I saw countless times on TV and seems incredibly basic could end a life. That's wrestling, it's almost always the simple stuff that gets you. Can't imagine how Rey feels. I'm not sure if I could keep wrestling after a freak accident like this. The ringside doctor took way too long to step in. I understand that in a situation like this, hindsight is 20/20 but he was dead weight on the ropes. Something clearly wasn't right, he should have stopped the match immediately. Granted, it's not like that would have save Perro's life but I couldn't help but notice that.
RIP Perro Aguayo Jr. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

That is absolutely frightening stuff. The whole sequence of events looks pretty routine. This showcases how dangerous of work wrestling truly is knowing something like this can happen at any given moment. I feel awful for everyone involved. RIP

From the video of the full match it looks like Rey caught him right in the throat.

Hey, how mundane that entire sequence is for some reason is really hitting me hard right now. I don't want to watch the video and someone dying from THAT just doesn't compute with me.
This is so sad. Oh man.

To me it seems that Perrito may have broken his neck when he does that somersault/roll over Tigre Uno (then Rey Misterio headscissors him). Just a total freak accident. I can't believe this has happened!

I just noticed that Perro lifts his left leg when Manik comes running, maybe thinking it was Rey, as if he's getting ready to sell the 619. After Manik hits the ropes, he goes limp. So it looks like he was at least semi-conscious at that point.
