Before you all go haywire, let me just state that I have practically no interest in seeing such a situation unfold today, considering the lows both men have reduced themselves to. However, at one time I think this could have made a great idea for TNA and possibly been a PPV draw if built up right. Shamrock, TNA's first champion, vs Kurt Angle, one of their standard bearers. Olympic gold medalist vs the first UFC title holder. And considering Angle debuted in WWE not too long after Shamrock left, kind of a dream match that never happened. Even just four or five years ago this might have made for a good idea for TNA. But these days...not so much.

What will happen first?
Angle doing a Moonsault or Shamrock bleeding from the mouth?

I had a lot of interest in seeing this during the early years of Angle's WWE career. They just missed each other in WWE.

The only reason I'd like to see this would be the sight of both men putting the ankle lock on each other at the same time. Otherwise, this ship has sailed sadly.

It's just one of those cases where the timelines just didn't quite sync up. I remember thinking this would be an entertaining match as far back as the late 1990s/early 2000s. However just as Angle was stepping into the WWF, Shamrock was stepping out. It probably would have worked best in the WWF at around this time, but again the timelines just didn't quite sync up.
As for it happenening in TNA 2006 or 2007 would have been the time to do it and even then we probably wouldn't have gotten anywhere near the match the two would've been capable of putting on. Shamrock still had some momentum then since he had two high profile UFC fights with Tito Ortiz in 2006. That said he got his ass kicked twice then lost to Robert Berry of all people in 2008. That's alright though. Coming off the Ortiz feud it could have been worked into the program. Have Shamrock come back as the guy who looks like he doesn't have it anymore but wants to prove the people wrong or something.

I would of loved to see this match take place around 2002 to 2006 as they could of feuded over who was truly the master of the ankle lock 0but after that nah.

In their primes, this would be an awesome match. It would be good now, but it would've been great at that time.
