Too low, or too high? Can't tell, as there are wrestling fans who I'm certain would pay $20k for something like that.....

Selling a ring should automatically boot you out the HOF Or do like the Oscars: if you want to sell it, you first have to offer it back to WWE for a dollar or two, and only if they decline can you sell it to somebody else.

When I got to meet Roddy Piper at a convention back in October, I glanced at the Hall of Fame ring on his hand, and I gotta say those rings look pretty sweet. Anyone wearing one of those would look like a real hep cat.

If I were WWE, I'd make an offer to him to either buy back the ring or an offer for him not to sell it. I think there's something to be said for keeping the Hall of Fame rings special.

Then they would be held hostage for 10-20 grand each time a lesser inductee needs some quick cash or doesn't like how they were mentioned on WWE TV. They're more likely to start including some sort of 'You cannot sell this ring' clause in with future HOF deals.

In any other business I can see both parties keeping quiet for the sake of dignity, but wrestling is filled with carnies who'll brag to other carnies how they got a shedload of cash from the WWE for their ring. Abby was not a big WWE name, his ring being out their reflects badly on him but not them, heck, giving him a handout would look bad given the reason that he needs the money to begin with.

Selling HOF rings exists everywhere. Professional athletes in all of the big leagues have had to do this at times. It's actually pretty common place. I don't see the outrage. Sure it's sad a guy has to resort to selling a nice piece of memorabilia and all, but that's essentially what it is. And I highly doubt that the rings are worth 20 grand.

Well good luck finding a mark stupid enough to pay 20k for that. that guy that wins all the WWE auctions is probably pooling funds together

If Mil Mascaras ever got a HOF ring, he'd never sell it.
Though he never sells anything.

Kinda off topic but didn't Abdullah pull a scumbag move by booking guys for japan only if they gave him a percentage of their earnings?

I thought that he gave his ring away a few years back, saying that he felt disrespected by the WWE for waiting so long to induct him. Interesting. A few years before his induction I read somewhere that he said he'd never want to be inducted.

The auction has been cancelled. Abdullah scratched his forehead and lost the ring in one of the divots.
