It's too bare bones for me.
Do you like two guys wrestling....because that's all you're getting with nxt.
2 guys wrestling in a ring is cool, but so is hhh being a terminator, Seth Rollins cashing in, and sneaky uses of chairs in matches.
My point is I like pure wrestling matches, but I love pieces of absurd sprinkled in. I think the main show is still very much the superior to nxt...

Yeah, can we get some more Triple H in stupid tin foil costumes please?
Or not.
NXT is better.

NXT has weird entertainment-y stuff too. Like pretty much everything with Balor.

It's not like they're just going out and having matches though like, say, PWG. I love PWG to death but I can get why some wrestling fans don't because it is bare bones, it is just pure wrestling (and fun, unadulterated fun). NXT though tell more complex and fascinating stories than RAW has done in a long time. It's not just Wrestler A faces Wrestler B in a great match. Sami's journey to the title against pseudo-heel Neville was one of the greatest builds to a title win I've ever seen. So I disagree with the bare bones aspect. If you mean there's no grandiose entrances then I point to Balor's entrance at the Takeover shows. Sure it doesn't happen on every show but we don't get Cyborg Hunter every week on RAW either.

Wrestling, at its best, doesn't NEED anything more than two people wrestling. If NXT needed more than that, they could have more than that... but a lot of the beauty in the show is the simplicity. How you can just get excited about watching a wrestling match. In WWE, we end up spending most of RAW wondering what will happen in the last five minutes of the show, hoping someone returns, someone debuts, or something turns face/heel. The three hours prior feels like buildup to that moment because we're used to the entertainment part of sports entertainment in WWE. In NXT, you get excited about seeing where a match will go when it's just two people in there, allowed to be creative, and trying to capture the crowd.
In the end... NXT is a true alternative to the WWE, and it's an in-house product. WWE has finally succeeded in creating their own competition, there is fan and brand loyalty to each brand. They are different from each other and they should remain that way.

I enjoy absurd stuff too, but absurd is only absurd when it's the exception rather than the norm.

Hang on, didn't a guy get hair removal cream put on his head causing him to go permanently bald and insane...on NXT? Does it get any more absurd than that?

NXT has weird entertainment-y stuff too. Like pretty much everything with Balor. Or Tyler Breeze with his fur-covered Selfie Sticks, or anything about Enzo and Cass. The very existence of Bull Dempsey. And especially Blue Pants. NXT doesn't completely shy away from the goofball stuff, not at all.

Also, we can't forget about past NXT goofiness: -Leo "LOL I'M AN AFRICAN MERCENARY JUST GOT BACK FROM KILLING PEOPLE" Kruger -Adam "LOL I AM HIGH ON PCP HEY LOOK IT'S BULL DEMPSEY IN A FEDORA AND WALDO AND SHIT" Rose -Kassius Ohno and his "I'm a melted candle" gimmick (at least that's what he looked like) -Rick Viktor's hairline

I'm with you, in those Raw vs NXT topics I was one to point out I actually do like Raw better, as odd as that may sound. And especially when including WWE pay-per-views. That great Royal Rumble match of Brock/Cena/Rollins to me was better than any NXT special match, including Zayn vs Steen.
I do dig NXT, but overall I like it less than ROH in it's prime for me (2005-2008ish or so). It is good and I do dig it, but I like the main roster stuff better. I'm more invested, and overall I do think acts like Rollins, Daniel Bryan, Ambrose, Lesnar, etc are more compelling to watch than anybody on NXT.
I do dig NXT too and think it's cool that it's so beloved, but it is interesting that you just don't see any criticism for it. I guess without a lot of heels cutting long promos and wacky shenanigans, you get a show that leaves most fans on here without any complaints. And that's cool, but I do like the bigger crowds and the more kooky angles at times.
Also to be honest I think the crowd for NXT could be a bit better. I look forward to them growing and doing more tapings in bigger arenas with wilder crowds. Full Sail is often like a more laidback Impact Zone.

I love that about NXT. It's short, concise and fun to watch. I do think that the commentary is too calm at times though. It sounds like they're calling golf sometimes.

Will throw this out there, I think my biggest problems with NXT are that it's too slowly paced - not saying everything should have a breakneck speed or anything, stuff needs to simmer, but it feels like months at a time goes by between anything significant happening which for the most part only seems to happen on the live shows (which is a problem that might be addressed with them adding more, or they might run into the opposite problem - either way think six a year would be better than the four they've been doing or the twelve they're moving to) - and that the idea of it being a second brand seems misguided in that it'll probably lead to them having to introduce a whole new developmental league due to there being guys training who are good enough to be in the ring getting a feel for WWE's general set-up but not good enough to be touring and being shown to tons of people.
