Why do you expect wrestling fans to suddenly become feminists and accepting when they' and the company itself have spent 30 years being xenophobic and sexist? For me its because the "sma" wrestling fans were supposedly the ones supporting the #givedivasachance and complaining about how WWE doesn't respect divas ans only sees them as objects and how the WWE should book the women more like Shimmer. Last night's crowd was supposed to be a crowd entirely made up of "smart" fans and those fans went against everything that "smart" fans were supposedly fighting for. The Divas had a very good match that was given pretty good time. The Bellas have obviously worked their butts off to improve and instead of supporting what was a good divas match between a group of women who all work quite hard the crowd rewarded their efforts with some very offensive and demeaning chants. You're right, and that's exactly why I question sincerity when it comes to topics like this. I bet a lot of people in attendance last night were tweeting about gender inequality in the WWE, yet still chanted along. Fake outrage does exist. I know some probably hate that term, but until words turn into action, it's hard to look at stuff like this without rolling your eyes, especially with wrestling fans. If Rock gave Stephanie a Rock Bottom at WM, the place would have erupted, yet those same people will go on message boards or Twitter and say how wrong it is to simulate male on female violence. There is no consistency.

I'm sure the Bellas were fine with it. I mean it's the most heat they've ever managed to draw from a crowd.
In all seriousness though, misogyny isn't cool but it's sadly been a long-standing tradition among wrestling crowds. I imagine a lot of the Raw crowd last night were raised on the Attitude Era, when thousands of people would chant "SLUT!" at Stephanie McMahon while Jericho and Rock talked about what a literal disgusting prostitute she was. Or if their age skews a bit older, they grew up on "SHE'S A CRACK WHORE!" chants in ECW. I'm not condoning it, but it's been around a while and likely won't change for some time.

There is no way Nattie ever sucks Tyson's anything. So the chants are shameful and incorrect. She would if she agreed to put on the Muta mask.

After all that, they should have done a "YOU SUCK REIGNS" chant at Reigns.
*Reigns to tag partner* "Are they saying I suck myself?"
Partner: "No, they're just saying you suck."
Reigns: *tear*

Random note, several topics on the front page have posts insulting Seth Rollins penis size. This board isn't above weird shaming nonsense either.
People attempting to make the funny, oddly enough sometimes it will be stupid. What can you do? Well, nothing.

They've gone from being almost non-wrestling eye candy waving flags for Team Johnny and Team Teddy to being the most high profile wrestling divas on the entire show, getting money feuds and angles with people like Stephanie McMahon whilst the rest of the divas roster are lucky if they get a 4 minute match on Superstars.
I don't know for certain but it's my belief that a lot of this is because they are the significant others of John Cena and Daniel Bryan; being the SO of an Uso and Tyson Kidd doesn't seem as career enhancing.
In this situation I find the chants tasteless but you have to take the rough with the smooth.
I will also use this post to mention again that I can't bear that every real-life relationship is used within the main show but for some reason Cena's relationship with Nikki is out of bounds. Maybe things like that are why you get booed despite facing a man driving a Russian tank to the ring.

They could have at least been fair and chanted, "YOU EAT NIKKI" at Cena. well they were too busy Kurt Angleing cena's music for that. OT- i was trying to figure out what the hell the crowd was chanting other than some aj and we want paige chants but couldn;t make anything out til the let's go divas chants started towards the end.

It seems the 'takeover' attempts are getting worse and worse.

It was a weird show. The same crowd that was chanting for Bayley and killed off the Punk chants can't help but trying to shame Brie and Nikki, and like, I know a bunch of people on my twitter (all who are here) were like, so, are the crowd going to chant "you f*** Lana" to Rusev?
I'm not even sure how those chants were trying to be insulting, like, I know that was the intention, but of course she f***s Bryan, Bryan's her husband, what kind of nonsense is that. So yeah, I thought the crowd was fun until that. And like, I've buried the Bellas non stop, but I felt they tried to do a good job and were better then usual, so that was even more depressing.
Also, was it you suck or you f***? Well, doesn't matter anyway, some people's children.

I'm not even sure what's the worst part. The crowd thinking it's an insult in 2015 for a women to have sex, or that they thought that chanting that will get the WWE to stop pushing the Bella twims for more 'pure women'.

That's what you get for shitty reality shits shows like "Total Divas". They are in LOLWWE and earn good money, they need to deal with LOLWWE being LOLWWE.

The chants were somewhat extreme, but when you market a reality show around your relationship with the poster boys of the company, that's a risk you're gonna deal with. Notice how it only happened with the Total Divas and the AJ one barely lasted, considering her and Punk are not like "LOOK AT US, WE'RE DATING/MARRIED, WATCH IT ON E EVERY SUNDAY", while Paige is dating... Oh... Uh yeah, they're not gonna show that on TD. But to my main point, when you're throwing your relationship into the open like the TDs are, there's gonna be douches that do that. They didn't seem particularly fazed by it anyway. Thankfully so, because it was a good match. I don't get this argument. When you have a reality show based on any person who isn't single, their relationship is usually one of the biggest things in their lives. It's not okay to chant "you suck someone" because they are dating someone and happened to be featured on TV. It's like saying it's okay to chant you suck Brad Pitt at Angelina Joile since they appear in a lot of red carpet events, public events, interviews, and even did a movie together. Plus I'm confused by some of the people here saying Nikki deserves it the most for flaunting her relationship. She's the only Total Diva who hasn't brought up her co worker relationship on the main shows yet. Plus who cares? When I date an awesome girl like I'm doing right now, I'm in that puppy love jackass phase bragging the awesome shit she does. Everyone does it. Why do you expect wrestling fans to suddenly become feminists and accepting when they' and the company itself have spent 30 years being xenophobic and sexist? The Bellas have obviously worked their butts off to improve and instead of supporting what was a good divas match between a group of women who all work quite hard the crowd rewarded their efforts with some very offensive and demeaning chants. The worst part was there was a pro "we want diva's" chant right before the other chants started.

It's amazing the type of behavior that is justified because it occurred at a live wrestling event. If that happened at any other live performance or anywhere else in any other context, more people would be horrified and offended. I feel more sad for anyone who participated in that than I do the Bellas.

I'm not condoning the chants, far from it, people should know better, especially the so-called 'smart' fans. However, WWE has bred this mentality through years and years of treating women awfully. And this particular situation is borne out of having their women's division basically exist to promote a reality show which uses TNA's pervy camera crew from the late 2000s, where almost everyone is portrayed as a bitchy, shallow, insecure horrible stereotype of a woman who is defined by who their boyfriend or husband is and 90% of storylines involve their sex life.
I've said it before and I'll say it again; they'll never get these women treated seriously as athletes when Total Divas is there to demean and stereotype them at every turn, especially when they have next to no character development outside of it and so their only distinguishing trait is which male wrestler they're sleeping with.
