I highly doubt Perro was in anyone's mind when they came up with this. It's an unfortunate coincidence. There's no reason to goof on his death. Yeah, I don't think any ill will was meant here. Ok yeah, they should have come up with something else because of what has recently happened but they weren't intentionally trying to make light of a death.

JBL or Booker T should have been diagnosed with the butt bleeding. They were stuck in a position that anything could have accidentally got jammed into their poopers once the table knocked them over.
And I think there's a 50/50 chance that the writers thought cervical was for a woman's cervix and it made Vince laugh which got it in the script.

I just wonder if someone backstage remember hearing "Cervical Fracture" and went with it not remember where it came from And that's why the Wrestlemania dance turned from Bear down for Wrestlemania to fat dog it for Wrestlemania

I don't think anyone's insinuating that the WWE was making an intentional reference to Perro. Still don't think it's anything worth getting outraged at, though.

I think Mr. Fantastic would call this a stretch. No, he wouldn't. He would say something along the lines "Personally, the likelihood that any connection to the tragedy that befell Perro Aguayo Jr. being used as a form of mockery is most skeptical, indeed".

I never said WWE was making fun of him...I merely said it was WWE being clueless about the nature of the injury and using the most recent hot button injuries as a way to use as a kayfabe injury, and it is blowing back on them by people's reactions.
Heck, they did the same thing with John Cena "rupturing a spleen" before his match with Umaga at the Royal Rumble a month after Bucs QB (and son of Hall of Fame QB Phil) Chris Simms got sidelined for the entire season with a legit situation of that happening.

Why did WWE choose this to give a bad move?
USA Network announced they're airing the Stanley Cup Playoffs during this show- couldn't they do corporate synergy there to help hype that up? "Michael Cole is day to day with an upper body injury. JBL suffered a lower body injury. Booker T suffered a lower body injury that also had anal bleeding."

Yeah, my first thought was Perro too when they said it. I noticed after that they changed it to "cervical injury" on TV, but that could just be King fudging what he's supposed to say, haha.

WWE should've said he was sent to the hospital with one of our favorite diagnoses, generalized weakness.

Was it even necessary to state what the injuries are? Just say he suffered severe injuries and is currently hospitalized.

Of course, there is a possibility that that actually happened. I mean probably not, but it could be real. In this era of shock value and reality panic, if it had really happened they would have A) Completely disregarded what happened, move on briskly, and put something up on the website when they knew more -or- B) Make a huge deal out of Cole's injury, assure the fans that more info was coming, and stop just shy of ending commentary for the night They would NOT have sent their NXT rookie out to falter through a handful of matches before being joined by a guy who nearly died of a heart attack on live TV. (Seriously. Look at how Lawler's heart attack was handled for how this would have gone if it really happened) You can't claim obliviousness. Not only was Perro huge, but you know they're following Rey and waiting to see if they can scoop him back up. This was just tacky and inconsiderate.

Right up there with having Mohammed Hassan do the "terrorist attack" bit a few days after the real thing. Not any malice by WWE, just some bad timing.

All these people saying there's nothing to be upset about and sticking up for WWE...
I don't think they intended to reference Perrito either, but having it be Cole's kayfabe injury so close to the tragedy is still in very bad taste. Surely someone there would have clicked that it was so similar and in not changing it lies WWE's fault. They could have chose literally any other injury from his head to his feet with the way he was thrown/landed.
I'll accept that it was a coincidence (because it's much worse if it wasn't), but they sill could have and should have went a different way.
