Calling it now. This is how Finn Balor debuts. He comes in and gives Cena a hell of a fight. Ultimately Cena puts him over the same way Angle put Cena over Good idea, you could also debut Itami this way.

Quite happy to hear this. Start low though, let him defend against guys like Truth, even a Zack Ryder.

Cena: "Yo Zack, we been through a lot bro....like that time your girlfriend forced herself on me"

Very efficient way for Cena to plow through the roster without bothering to dream up a storyline and make everyone who isn't Cena look like shit. Great idea.

I'd like for Bo to attempt to answer the challenge every week, only to have someone else get to the ring first.

God forbid they have a fighting champion in an attempt to make the title mean something to someone somewhere.

God forbid they have a fighting champion in an attempt to make the title mean something to someone somewhere. I got no problem with it. I'm just worried that they'll blow through bigger matches that could easily be PPV matches just to avoid having to use lesser stars on RAW. Like they'll throw away potential feuds with Sheamus, Miz, etc. By sticking them in those TV matches because they don't want to put someone like Ryder or Riley in this position even though they'd be losing anyway.

More talking about the people complaining or making snide comments about the very idea of it. Ambrose was a good guy to intro the idea with. I think next should be lower guys too. Maybe eventually leading to a debut of some sort. Bring Cena's career full circle in some way. Double points if the guy says "ROOFLESS.....AGGRESSION!"

God forbid they have a fighting champion in an attempt to make the title mean something to someone somewhere. Problem with it is, actually following up on and doing it. If I know the way weekly defenses have gone in the past, it'll last for a few weeks before during it, someone comes out and beats down Cena during a match and its then quietly dropped and forgotten about.

From the SD spoilers report I love this idea, it's something I've longed to see done by WWE and I hope they stick to it. It would be a perfect way to utilize Cena. He could put on good 8-10 minute matches with guys like Barrett, Miz, Harper, Stardust, Bo Dallas, Slater, Fandango, Adam Rose, and Axel or even babyfaces playing the aggressor like Neville, Swagger, Goldust, R-Truth, Darren Young, or a pissed off Zack Ryder before giving them the AA, the STF, and holding up his US Title while the announcers yell "He's an all-time great! The Champ is Here!" But I admit I am likely being overly optimistic. My fear is that nothing will change with how Cena is used and that he will continue to go over guys who hit the glass ceiling with a thud every time they lose to a Cena/Orton in an ultimately meaningless TV match like Rusev, Ziggler, Wyatt, Ambrose, Sheamus, and Ryback...only it will be for the US Title. Ambrose this last Monday should be about as high on the food chain that these weekly defenses get, anything bigger should be a PPV match. It's a dumb, small example but I always remember when Cena faced Heath Slater on Saturday Morning Slam and Cena basically just did the classic Hogan shtick while 3MB bumped around for him. We've seen just about every incarnation possible of John Cena - WWE Champion Superman over the last 10 years. How about seeing him interact with guys he's never been in the same room with? He needs to go over clean for months to rebuild the belt before he does a clean job, loses his rematch clean to really get that guy over and then get moved into a top non-belt program before he re-enters the World Title picture. Done right this could be 12-15 months of Cena getting the title over again. I agree with this. Cena can't destroy them, but facing different wrestlers can showcase their abilities, and a Champion defending regularly can show he wants to be Champion to be the best wrestler and not for a payday.

Defending it every week seems like overkill to me. Sure it will build him up but no one is going to believe that he will lose it if he defends it once a week.
I like the idea of a Kevin Owens or someone like that coming in and upsetting him but I'm not going to hold my breath.

That's a really cool idea and I hope they stick with it. Although I don't look forward to the "Cena wins lol Cena buries everybody lol" ust because he wins a match.

I hope he holds it for several months. Keep fighting, keep beating guys, build that thing up. Whoever eventually beats him is gonna look fantastic.
...hell, getting a Bane-Batman idea here even for that. Someone as mastermind, setting John up with a series of gruelling fights before he fights him.

This is a brilliant idea. And yes of course Cena will win, but he should win - he should win for months. Doesn't mean he can't: 1. Have great matches every week 2. Put over a guy without losing to him 3. Teach the young guys and n00bz a thing or two about working 4. Relegitimise the title

I hope he turns heel and starts promising a title shot against "Wrestling best up and coming prospect" hyping up like it'd be Zayn or Steen only for him to keep pulling out some obscure nobody like Falklands Islands wrestling champ Sam Segway.

I don't know why anyone is happy about this. This basically gives free reign for Cena to squash the entire roster in 3 months.

I think it depends very much on how they do this. If Cena has straightforward, competitive matches for the next few months, it'll be great, and exactly what the title needs. If every time he faces someone "too low" on the ladder we get matches like Sandow's cash-in though, it'll do nobody any favours. For the moment though, I'm cautiously all for this.
