Season 1 is up there as my favorite TV drama (thriller/crime) of all time with Breaking Bad. It was perfect in every way to me, and Rust Chole has easily become one of my most favorite characters of all time. I love how it is done as an anthology, with new characters and stories each season. So damn original and bound to keep it fresh each time, while in keeping with their style and dark tone. The Season 2 trailer has just been released (Rachel Mcadams looking as stunning as ever) Official synopsis {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}A bizarre murder brings together three law-enforcement officers and a career criminal, each of whom must navigate a web of conspiracy and betrayal in the scorched landscapes of California. Colin Farrell is Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective in the all-industrial City of Vinci, LA County. Vince Vaughn plays Frank Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his life's work, while his wife and closest ally (Kelly Reilly), struggles with his choices and her own. Rachel McAdams is Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff's detective often at odds with the system she serves, while Taylor Kitsch plays Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle cop for the California Highway Patrol who discovers a crime scene which triggers an investigation involving three law enforcement groups, multiple criminal collusions, and billions of dollars.
Season 2 premieres Sunday, June 21 on HBO in the USA Monday, June 22 on Sky Atlantic in the UK

I'm looking forward to it, Marty and Rust were the best onscreen duo in forever. Hell of a show. Season two has big shoes to fill.
Random note, I loved that quote that was first going around about season 2 from the writer. "[it's about] hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system,". This quote just seemed so random, I loved it.
If this season doesn't indeed involve the occult history of the US transportation system, whatever that is, I'll be disappointed. ;D

Season 1 was ridiculous. Looked forward to it every week. I really hope Season 2 follows suit.

If it's even half as good as the first I'll be satisfied. Really excited.

I loved season 1. Hart and Cole were great. The best thing is that they aren't villain protagonists or anti-heroes like on other HBO shows, they're genuinely awesome heroes. Have a feeling the same will be true with next season's protagonists.

Can't wait for this. I'm really curious to see Vince Vaughn. It seems he hasn't had a dramatic role in ages.

The fact that the series is an anthology gives me reason to at least give the second season a try. I'll probably wait until it's on DVD or on demand or during one of those Comcast Watchathon weeks, but I'll at least give it a genuine shot.
What gives me pause, however, is the fact that outside of "House of Cards", I don't think there's been a more overrated show than the first season of "True Detective". I got into it well after the first season had ended, primarily due to the overwhelmingly positive reviews it received from both critics and the general public. I'll admit that the acting is phenomenal, particularly Matthew McConaughey, but I thought the story was dry toast with a side of lukewarm tap water. I was just so insanely bored by it, culminating in a "wait...that's it?" season finale. Had it been longer than eight episodes, I probably would've thrown in the towel right around midseason.

I stand by the statement that if Season 1 did not have Red Hot Matthew McConaughey it would not have gotten the hype it did. The focus was all on him and would he win an Emmy to go with his Oscar.
While the acting was outstanding, the big twist to the show was "You've been watching a standard detective show". After it ended people were saying the final scene was actually Rust and Hart in Heaven. The creator was like "No, they survived." I will say Rust finding redemption and Hart bonding with him was a nice ending.
{Spoiler} Also it did give us Dem Titties...you know the ones.

To be honest I was never expecting a twist. The writer pretty much wagged his finger at every crazy theory and said he was being very transparent outside of some more supernatural stuff laid out in the script. I wasn't disappointed with it being straightforward, but wish it would have gone into the mythology a bit more.

It's going to be hard to top the first season. If any actor is in need of a McConaughey-like resurgence it's Vince Vaughn.

Just rewatched the final 2 episodes of S1. Still 10/10 for me in every way. It's a shame that there is no consistent director for all the episodes this season. I think one of the reasons why Season 1 is as beautifully narrated in story as it was, was due to the consistency, clarity and confidence it had with all the episodes being written/show run and directed by the same two people respectively. At least we still have the consistency in writing from Pizzolatto this season.
Really hyped though, can't wait

Vince Vaughn is one of my dudes. I know he's going to knock this out of the park and have everyone riding his jock. We've had the McConaissance and now it's time for the Vince Vaughnaissance.

Soooooooo much different than Season 1 (which was to be expected), but still an interesting start.
I think I could listen to Colin Farrell threatening to buttf*** kids' dads all day. It was hilariously unexpected.

I have yet to watch Season 1, but already this is the most I've enjoyed Vince Vaughn in anything.
I doubt I'll be shocked if Ani's hippie dad plays a bigger role.

Trust me. The opening won't hold a candle to the original. And I'm not attached to the main cast like was to Woody through his career or Matt's craziness or the hottness of Lili Simmonds,Alexandra Daddario, andMichelle Monaghan. I hve to start fresh with the new characters.
Colin and Vince's relationship looks to he very promising. And Colin looks to be the one who gives zero f***s.
