Meet the new Jultz, same as the old Jultz. Sekera and Jultz never both played good during the same game hence my theory they were in a freaky Friday scenario

One of the last steps for any team to complete a rebuild is having a good/great goalie. Lots of times with a young undiscovered goalie you can't tell if he's elite if his defense is shit or if the defense is that bad. Hence Dubnyk. Schneider is probably in the top 5 in the league for goalies and would be considered more elite if he played elsewhere. NJD will probably have a short rebuild if they get some good offensive talent by free agency or drafting. Plus I imagine for the many veteran players this is a fresh start without Lou running the show so rejuvenated culture shift The nice thing about the Devils' system is that the goalie they drafted this year not only looks great, but should be NHL-ready by the time Schneider's contract expires. Yeah, as much as the Devils' current dearth of offensive prospects fills me with dread, I'd rather deal with them having really good D/goaltending and having to piece together a "good enough" offense than having to deal with the opposite. It's tough to get difference makers on offense via free agency or regular trades anymore, but a really good blue line and solid net minding eases a lot of that pressure, whereas great offense can be absolutely dragged down by poor D/goalies.

And the Devils got their first regulation win today against Jack Eichel and the Sabres. It's also their fourth win in a row.
I think that's already a longer winning streak than they had all of last year.

Literally, in one game they looks like an unstoppable offensive juggernaut with a solid D. The next game they look horrendous. Since you're an Avs fan, do you think you know why this is? It's something that's fascinating me about that team.

It's something that's fascinating me about that team. I have no clue what is going on. They really do have solid players and better D than people give them credit for. I think it is partly their playbook. When it works it is lights out, but when it doesn't it looks like they are paying in the dark. Even score tracking has gotten to be an emotional roller coaster ride that I can barely take.

Oilers got screwed It's the opposite of the Yakupov's goal celebration when Gagner got screwed and a few seconds later Yakupov ties it up.

It's (another) indictment of the NHL's technology and the rule as a whole.

I finally saw the end of the Kings/Oilers game. I don't like the fact that the Kings won on a bad call by the refs. In other words, it looked like a good goal to me. I mean, the Kings looked pretty bad outside of that powerplay that made the game 3-2 with 3:30 remaining. However, with that all said, I'll take the two points any day. The Oilers get no sympy from me. It sucks, yes, but this shit happens to everybody at some point.

Like I remember that one time they scored on the literal last millisecond when the clock "lagged" so there was enough time to win the game. Or gagners no goal call. And I swear they had a no goal call for them in the playoffs against Anaheim I think

Between the no goal and losing his fantasy hockey match up, I think last night was the worst night of Supersweets life.

Nevermind the Detroit game two seasons ago where the puck bounced off the netting and then off Quick to go in. The refs counted that for a goal even though it was out of play. Or the game like 4 years ago where Ryan Smyth tipped a goal in against the Sens-legally- and it didn't count. Or then later on that season when Martin Hanzal clearly tipped a puck in above the crossbar and yet the goal still counted to give the 'Yotes the win in OT. Nope. Only the Kings get away with stuff and this never happens to them.

Sometimes teams and people are luckier than others
