So I'm about to enter my 4th consecutive playoff pool this year with tons of money involved. The good news about LA being eliminated from the playoffs is that hopefully the guy who won the last three years in a row because he kept choosing everyone from LA in his strategy may finally lose. Sickens me LA Kings made this guy 1500 dollars in total profit. You mad, bro?

He was the definition of a guy who can build a contending team in a short period of time but hurt the franchise in the long term. His love for character guys was his biggest strength and weakness. He did seem to sell draft picks like candy. Like I know he was getting two high first round picks from Toronto but he already gave up on of those picks (Seguin). Funny how they announce it right after Aaron Hernandez trial. Good PR move Boston. Crazy to think both GM's from the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals are gone. If Claude Julian is fired this off season crazy to think both GM's and Coaches from the SCF are gone. And somehow Kevin Lowe remains. Julien is likely gone, especially is the Bruins bring in an outside guy as GM. Rumors I hear are that former Bruins player and current assistant GM Don Sweeney could be his successor Yeah it wouldn't make any sense to bring anyone somebody from the outside if there is nothing wrong with the management and structure of the team. Like Boston didn't make it to the playoffs this year but missing the playoffs with 95 points is like missing the NFL playoffs despite being a 10-6 or 11-5 team. Plus looking at his history being the director of player development and scouting since 2006 where he helped developed and scouted the team to what it is since 2006 deserves a shot. He was going to be a future GM to another team anyways. I'll be mad if he somehow wins for the 4th year in a row. Anyways I had the shittiest number to pick from number 8 where everyone took my strategy of raiding all the teams I wanted to raid (Chicago, NYR, Washington, Tampa Bay, Anaheim, Minnesota, Ottawa) So I'm betting heavy on St. Louis 1. Alexander Ovechkin 2. Jaden Schwartz 3. Alexander Steen 4. Kevin Shattenkirk 5. Evegini Malkin 6. Kyle Okoposo 7. TJ Oshie 8. Paul Statsny 9. Tyler Myers 10. Craig Smith This is the least confident I ever been with my team. And for three years my team has always been St. Louis heavy. Usually by choice.

Sucks you didn't get a chance to draft Vladimir Tarasenko. That kid is awesome.

Playoffs start off with two very evenly matched series. Montreal is a little better than Ottawa and has a lot more experience from last year. But without Patches, they could have trouble scoring in game 1. I loved their in-season additions of Smith-Pelley and Petry. They're both what Montreal needed.
I like the Islanders, but Washington is really only set up to play them and their open-up game. You could argue Tampa, but they're way deeper.

Bit late to the party, but here's my wild swing at the playoff bracket.
MIN over STL in 6 NSH over CHI in 6 WIN over ANA in 5 CGY over VAN in 6
MTL over OTT in 6 TBL over DET in 7 NYR over PIT in 4 NYI over WSH in 7
MIN over NSH in 6 WPG over CGY in 5
MTL over TBL in 7 NYR over NYI in 6
MIN over WPG in 6 MTL over NYR in 7
MTL over MIN in 6
Montreal for the Stanley Cup, unless the Rangers beat them in the conference finals.

Both games in 1st intermission. Isles/Caps tied at 1 while the Sens lead the Habs 1-0.

After 2 in the first batch of games, it's 3-1 Isles and 4-3 Habs. PK Subban was given a game misconduct. Meanwhile, The Preds currently has a 1-0 lead over the Hawks.

3-0 Nashville leading Chicago.
My reaction to this as a 'Hawks fan:

Islanders totally out-class Washington, as expected. Man, I hope someone puts Chimera on his ass this series.
That's the problem with going up on Chicago early. They've woken the giant, and now Chicago is on the gas. I hate them so much.

Chicago can never truly be killed, only stalled. Kane coming back is huge.
Kind of surprised the Isles handled the Caps as handily as they did, but it's only one game, and the playoffs are a different beast from the regular season, so we'll see.

Huh, came back, and the Hawks have tied it.
Apparently, they listened to me.

I'm sorry, but it's the playoffs. You can't give Chicago a power play on "penalties" like that. That and the one on Volchenkov were both ticky tack, especially after they didn't call a pretty obvious trip on Chicago before the Volchenkov penalty.
Ottawa/Montreal is going to be a bloodbath. The announcers even said at the 2 minute mark something to the effect of "two minutes in and these teams already hate each other." Such foreshadowing.

Crazy save by Darling. Watching it live, I thought the Preds had a goal for sure.

I'm sure there's still a lot of bad blood left over from the series they had two years ago.

Punk's been trolling the King's mascot on Twitter all night. There is a video where they got in a scuffle either last year or earlier this season.
