The worst thing about Alex Riley's career is that his awesome theme song was wasted on a talentless douchebag.

I will admit, if I was in Riley's position, I'd be bitter, too. But I'm not the kind of dick that would take it out on the folks that help me get paid, in the first place. Sadly he's tru carny, like many other wrestlers. The system has changed, and most wrestlers are now bigger marks than the fans. I think it's a factor in why wrestling is dying. Too many of us know it's a show, when the basis was that these guys were grifting us. It's sad.

Lots of guys played football before becoming pro wrestlers. The Rock played football. John Cena played college football before jumping into the indies. College football used to be JR's playground when he ran talent relations. And a dude who only sees wrestling as a hobby does not become a full time pro wrestler for a major promotion. A dude who only sees it as a hobby would just work his local indy while holding down a "real job". Riley's football career was long over before he came to FCW and he was working a normal job in the "civilian" world. He quit his real job to try out for WWE. A dude who doesn't care about wrestling doesn't cry like a baby over beating a jobber, nor would he have gotten all weird and embarrassed himself over the "Push Rage" sign. And a dude who didn't care about wrestling would just wash his hands of the business at the first sign of adversity, not stick around for years in the hopes that it gets better. The Rock- Wrestling family John Cena went to the indies first JR-Wasn't a wrestler and did a year college commentating before becoming a referee Riley sold medical supplies Riley is a giant ego hog who only cares about himself and that is about it, he goes where the money goes plain and simple. Zack Ryder who was floundering so many times hasn't complained nearly as much as Riley. His football career was over because he graduated college and his degree was in communications yet the man obviously learned nothing. He comes across to me as an entitled asshat who doesn't want to be held accountable for his actions, if he had any type of future in WWE they would have at least tried more they are trying more with Ryder than him, they don't think we would do well as a commentator and that is saying something if they keep Byron Saxton and Uso around as commentators, he couldn't even last on the preshow panel's either. He stayed around because no one wants him not even TNA would want him I'm willing to go as far as to say it's not even about wrestling for Alex Riley, it's all about the fame and the money. If he was nearly as passionate about wrestling as he claimed to be, he would have quit by now when he realized WWE has no use for him now or in the future. I won't even say he's just comfortable with getting that paycheck from Stamford every two weeks, because if that was the case, he wouldn't be all out in his feelings on Twitter. I think those cheers he got when he broke up from The Miz got to his head in a big way, and he really thought he was gonna be the next John Cena or Randy Orton. What he failed to realize is that John Cena and Randy Orton have talent. Riley's problem is, deep down he knows he's garbage. He's not good enough to make it on the independent circuit, he doesn't care enough to get to that level, and he doesn't even have enough name value to just make it as a novelty act. I mean, even some of the lesser Divas could make it as modeling, hell I could actually see Cameron making a mint as a club promoter. Riley's got no incentive to leave, and WWE has no incentive to use him, so he's just stuck until his contract runs out or they finally get tired of paying him to do nothing. But Riley ain't walking, not while he still has a fraction of a chance of getting on television and satiating his ego.

You know...this could actually be an excellent gimmick and Alex Riley would be perfect for it. People keep noting that nobody is making him stop looking stupid but maybe it's intentional? I mean, he'll surely get booed out of the building by the NXT crowd now. That's better than no reaction at all. There's just no way that anybody is that lame.
If it's not a gimmick then yea...he's so dumb he made me think it's a work. That's a new level of dumb.
Still, I want to see him get owned more. I can't get enough of it. If it's a gimmick, it's brilliant.

The Full Sail Crowd loved Riley and he got reactions from them. Live crowds like cheering for him. When he wrestled Sami Zayn the Ultimate Babyface the night that Owens took him out, he got dueling "LET'S GO RILEY!" Chants. Fans only dislike him because of his commentary run and the Twitter douchery.

For the last 10 pages of this thread you have continued to come up with excuse or reasoning for Alex Riley and now you've literally just boiled it down to "The only reason people hate him is because he is a Jackass on Commentary and Twitter"
...AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHY WE'RE HAVING THIS DISCUSSION. He's a JACKASS, and he ACTS LIKE A JACKASS. This was never about his wrestling ability, it was about how he conducted himself outside of the ring, and quite frankly the guy is a train wreck and it is HIS FAULT. No one elses, HIS.
The fact is when your personal douchebaggery starts to get in the way of any wrestling ability you may have had, it makes people hate you. See Havoc's Chicken Thread. Alex Riley is a JACKASS. That's why he gets the hate he does... because it's True.
Just stop coming into this Thread man. Obviously, no one has or is going to agree with you about your points, it's obviously upsetting you, and other people here to get in these types of arguments. We get you're like Alex Riley's cousin or something at this point or the biggest diehard fan he's ever had, but this just isn't working out for you. It's getting ridiculous and it's just going to keep going around and around in a circle until a Mod locks the damn thing.
This seriously needs to end, right here.

Too many of us know it's a show, when the basis was that these guys were grifting us. It's sad. I do miss being grifted. I also miss when the wrestlers weren't all portrayed as fanboys who "love this business" and would do anything short of literally eating a bowl of shit to be there. I want to feel like they're these wacked out people and that WWE scoured the earth for, or that they sought wrestling out as the ultimate competitive environment. Not that they played with action figures and dreamed of being a WWE SuperStar one day.

The worst thing about Alex Riley's career is that his awesome theme song was wasted on a talentless douchebag. Seriously. It's practically the ultimate babyface theme, and it's been wasted on this tithead. Fact of the matter is, folks pop because it's got such an exciting sounding intro. The high-pitched, fast guitars hype folks up. You could probably give that theme to Jerry McDevitt and have him just walk out calmly, and folks would pop for him.

Alex Riley seems like a dude who listens to a ton of Creed. I bet he really loves "underground" nu metal, like Soil. That Creed stuff is for pussies.
