Think we could use a new thread for this.
Ironically I will be avoiding this thread every week since we're getting the show a day later over here.
What's everyone expecting from this season? I'm looking forward to more Dorne.

This thread? I'll be avoiding the internet in general until I see each episode! Especially seeing as the UK's gonna be a day behind the US! And it doesn't help that apparently the first 5 episodes leaked out already, so I'm on edge lest I click wrong and end up spoiled.

HBO must be pissed that the first 4 are out online already. Still, from the trailers, it looks like things are getting more interesting.

Yeah those leaks are a pain, think that'll be more and more of a problem, considering Doctor Who had the same problem, damn sci-fi/fantasy nerds!
I've had 1 or 2 spoilers while reading up on things from previous series, honestly I'm glad they've said they'll deviate and spoil things so I know it's not going to affect my enjoyment knowing where it all goes.
At work I've started a dead pool, guessing 5 characters we think will die, make things a bit more interesting.

I'm torn do I watch the new season and risk it doing something that hasn't happened in the books or do I just stop watching all together and wait for George RR Martin to stop being lazy and finish book 6&7 already

Well, they've already done a couple of things that aren't in the books. Can you wait another 5 years for the last book? I have patience but that's a bit much for me. George is still involved, so it's not like this is some cheap knock off version. It's another way of telling the same story.

As a virgin media user, we get screwed out of watching GOT
I've not even gotten through the whole of season 4 yet.

Super hyped for this. A few thoughts...
I really hope we see more Melisandre and her weird priestess shit this season.
Really looking forward to seeing Arya arrive at Braavos. At least I think that's where she's going. It's been 10 months so my memory is a little foggy.
I really have no interest in Daenerys. I find her character very boring and she seems to get worse as the show goes on.
I've no idea what's going to happen with Tyrion and Varys but I can't wait to find out.
As for who will die this season, that could just about anyone in this show. I'm going to say Brienne, Barristan and possibly Stannis.

Can't believe this came right on my birthday this year! I hope to see plenty more of Jaquen Hagar, and seeing what happens next with Arya and Jon. Hope this season ends with Daenerys landing at King's Landing finally.

I am looking forward to it, even if we do have to wait a day longer. I've not had a problem with any of the changes they made from the books, so that should keep things interesting.
There's not anyone in particular whose story I'm going to be waiting for, I'm just going to sit back and enjoy it.
Deaths - Tricky... Jorah, Grey Worm, Davos, Aemon and (hopefully not) Pod.
I'm actually going to feel a little sorry for those who do watch the leaked episodes. Them - "Ha ha! I've already seen the first 4 episodes." Me - "Good for you, now what are you going to watch for the next month?"

If this is a Daenerys-centered episode, I might have to skip it.

Yeah, I also find Daenerys to be pretty terrible in the show. A lot of that has to do with the terrible actress (Emilia Clarke) that's portraying her.

I'm torn do I watch the new season and risk it doing something that hasn't happened in the books or do I just stop watching all together and wait for George RR Martin to stop being lazy and finish book 6&7 already I went through the same dilemma but then I had it put to me in a way that made the choice pretty easy. Would you rather have a key plot point revealed by watching the show and enjoying it, or else spend the next however many years worrying that at any second you could have a key event or reveal spoiled because of a random comment on facebook, youtube, this forum, by an image macro, by a late-night chat show monologue, by pretty much anything? Key example, if Jon Snow's parentage (or some other big deal) is revealed this season, do you really think you can avoid hearing about it until the next book comes out?

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I'd have to go live in a hole if they reveled that before the books did to not get spoiled.
