Wasn't that Killers song already in Guitar Hero 3?
Really underwhelming setlist so far for Guitar Hero Live. Na Na Na could be really fun, though.

Wasn't that Killers song already in Guitar Hero 3? Really underwhelming setlist so far for Guitar Hero Live. Na Na Na could be really fun, though. It was in something I forget which game. Also for Weezer the only single off the Blue album that I don't think has been used is Undone - The Sweater Song. But Jonas was never a single so they could choose whatever the hell they want Also as I said in the announcement for Guitar Hero... I think I'm gonna give it a pass. I always preferred Rock Band, their button hits always seemed to match up better not to mention being able to use my old DLC is a plus. Also some of the First Person thing they are doing with Guitar Hero looks like it could get distracting. edit: When you were young was in both Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band.

Crap list so far. There's hundreds of great bands out there, and yet, Alter Bridge.

You need to listen that intro City of Achilles, among other songs, sound like they are gonna be legit challenges instead of just chords or "shredding" Also now confirmed via new YouTube videos Carrie Underwood "Before he Cheats" Green Day "21 Guns"

The successful first trio of GH was full of them. I get that you have your certain taste in music and I remember once linking to a Faith No More video in one of these threads when you once wrote that they weren't important because they'd never been in a Guitar Hero game. They want the audience to buy these games, so they should stick to what made them popular in the first place without getting cute about it. The games are targeting the teen gamers, it's a party game really. I don't see alternative or hard rock inclined teenagers rushing to by a guitar based game with Carry Underwood and new Green Day in it. The same goes to doubling on Killers tracks. They have many more songs, some catchy and challenging. I won't be surprised if this flops based on set list and insistence on this new "first person experience" being what people buy the game for and not to play good tunes, especially those with challenges. Through the Fire and Flames wasn't exactly a pop rock hit, but through the game, it got a cult following. Free Bird was hardly in the culture conscience, yet it's inclusion in GH2 made it awesome again. It's what worked before and I doubt it was accidental.

Free Bird was hardly in the culture conscience, yet it's inclusion in GH2 made it awesome again. It's what worked before and I doubt it was accidental. First off, what I meant when I made the Chords and Shredding comment is the ability to move your fingers around, as I love playing songs with complete finger confusion, such as My Name is Jonas (GH3), Sweating Bullets (GH5), and Sweet Home Alabama (GH: WT). I probably did make that comment about Faith No More not being important because of Guitar Hero, and for that, if I did make it, I do apologize. While FNM is not really my cup of tea, it was not my place to judge a band's status simply off a game, and besides that it was five/six years since the last major Rock Band/Guitar Hero game, so to hold a comment like that like an opinion won't change is actually kinda funny, but I digress. The last thing in your first argument is my taste in music, which has nothing to do with it when it comes to my passion for these games. Within six games and six years, I discovered Suicidal Tendancies, Sum 41, David Bowie, Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath, The Ramones, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine...and that was just the first two games! I admit that when it comes to casual listening, Metal and other genres aren't my go to, but when it comes to playing these games, I always go for what will be the most fun and the most challenging for my fingers... ...Which leads me to your second argument (and fourth) about the audience. Here is the MAIN point I agree with you on: Getting songs like When You Were Young, Before He Cheats, or 21 Guns are the last thing this franchise needs, because for the most part they have either already been used (in this case all 3 on Rock Band) or are only really fun to play via vocals but not on guitar. The main thing about the audience though is how quickly Guitar Hero melted into the mainstream: When GH 1 and 2, arguably even 80's, came out, they were simply for those that love music, love gaming, and love hearing new music/hard rock classics. The thing is, as EVERYTHING that comes out once a year, the pop medium ate it up (Need any more proof look at Saw and Paranormal Activity). In fact, the South Park episode came out a week after Guitar Hero 3 came out, arguably the best one in the series amongst the complete fanbase. By then, everyone jumped on the train, and they weren't just catering to a small base anymore, they were catering to everyone. That is why Through The Fire and Flames got the credit in pop culture that it always gets, not because of a small audience, but because it was the right song at the right place in the game at the right time of game exposure (Add to the fact is that it was a right of passage to pass that intro). By Guitar Hero World Tour, they really didn't know what to do, which is why even after the clusterf*** of gtoing with all instruments, the soundtrack for WT, while having a few WTF moments, really is quite underrated. Guitar Hero is a mainstream icon right now, not just for the original crowd...so for a party with a few drunk CASUAL people, not just rockers, not just gamers, just by casual people, which would they choose first: A song they know such as Before He Cheats, or a song from Metallica's The Black Album that wasn't a single? At this point, people want fun, and i'm inclined to agree with them (Mainly because of, while the song list for Warriors of Rock was amazeballs, by a certain point it just became more of a chore to go through story mode then it was rewarding) Finally, on the other point I agree with: I do agree this is probably going to flop. Whether it be because of a new controller, the live experience, or even the fact that it's been gone for so long, something will probably not click, but in the gaming and musio world, you never say never...I mean, how many times has Dance Dance Revolution been resurrected? lol

The only acceptable Alter Bridge song would be Metalingus. Not a fan of the band, but that song is pretty great and I think it'd be fun music game material.
The Guitar Hero games were massive hits even before Activision replaced Harmonix with a B-Team developer like Neversoft. III was the apex of the series' popularity, but the previous success of the series combined with Activision's marketing muscle is why it was so successful to begin with. And then from World Tour on it just became a subpar Rock Band ripoff.
I think it is interesting what they're doing as far as the gameplay of GHL goes, but they're going to need a strong setlist to make people try it out and buy new guitar controllers. Especially when Rock Band 4 will not only be the same familiar format, but also backwards compatible with the old DLC (well, as much as they can manage) and even the old instruments. And the weird Sega CD-style FMV stuff isn't helping either.

Here's a legitimate question
What could GH do to out edge Rock Band 4?
They've released more songs, they are trying something new, they even revealed more rock oriented songs as some asked in this thread, yet i know more people are leaning towards RB4

I like a lot of the new songs but at the same time I don't like how they've taken out the band aspect. Playing with friends is what these games are all about for me.

Also, it's by far my favourite song by them due to Edge association. And I realise they're trying something different, but it's not in a good way. The songs have been resoundingly meh so far. Plus the lack of band play really turns me off of playing it.

Wait a second...legitimate question
People liked the Guitar Hero band play?
With the exception of Bass Pedal +, i thought the major consensus was negative

Ed Sheeran is actually quite awesome and Sing sounds like it would make a difficult song with much strumming
