nerdist.com/dominic-cooper-officially-cast-as-amcs-preacher/One of my favourite comics is coming to TV, and the (young) Howard Stark is playing Jesse Custer. Hopefully it's a good show. AMC seem to have a good track record. Would rather HBO, Netflix or Showtime since they are not bound by the FCC. But yeah, let's do this. EDIT: Note: they just making a pilot at this stage. There has been no commitment to a full series at this stage.

I'll be really curious to see how they pull it off, and how much they have to dial back.

I really don't see this working at all.

I'm hoping it creates one of those fake controversies. Like the ones seen in the past for Monty Python's Life Of Brian, The Last Temptation Of Christ and Kevin Smith's Dogma. Love to see it get the media exposure.

AMC is still not going to be as hardcore as say, HBO or Showtime. But then they've handled material like The Walking Dead, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad really well. I think Preacher will be fine in their hands.

Shut the front door! This is really happening? I knew Rogan and Goldberg(MMA fans what?) got the rights to it and AMC optioned it...but I never really thought it would see the light of day. This will be interesting... Also I saw Dominic Cooper and was like "The Hobbit from Lost?" Is he playing Cassidy? Then I realized who he was and am fine with it. {Spoiler} What are the serious odds of Arseface making it to air?

So I guess he will be in it. Should point out they are just filming a pilot at this stage. I don't think they have committed to a full series yet.

I want this to work, but...to say I'm skeptical it will is an understatement.

I've been following this since it was announced on Seths twitter that they were trying to pitch the idea. I am pumped. AMC is the only network I trust for this. HBO as good as it is certainly interferes as much if not more with their productions as any other. Netflix would be another strong choice. But AMC will do right by the material.

I think Preacher will be fine in their hands. This They have a solid track-record with shows that are plenty adult. No you won't see full-on nudity, major gore, or f-bombs but they can get away with enough to get the job done. Plus sometimes being able to use more graphic material becomes a creative crutch.

I really, really, really, REALLY want this to work. The subject matter though is bound to piss a lot of people off and the ratings, legs of the series, and reaction from the audience is what is going to determine whether this show becomes successful.
It's one thing to add humor involving religion and a sense of mystery. It's another thing entirely when the graphic novel depicts God as hateful, wrathful, and cowardly entity who is afraid of Genesis who bonds with Jesse. As well as Jesse hunting him down, along with Saint Of Killers, and of course Arseface too. Say what you will about Seth and his films, he's definitely a brave individual for attempting to get this off the ground.

I am mostly disturbed by this particular development: With no mention of castinh for the Saint of Killers, or Herr Starr? So Emily will be the stupid, innocent POV character? So we can have the exposition dump, and all of that? Great. Maybe it will work, but two major characters are missing, for my tastes.

So if it's picked up I'm guessing a season would contain two book volumes (going by those book numbers, there is 9 in total). So maybe those characters won't appear until later in the season if the show is picked up. They may hold of Herr Starr until season 2. Yeah so maybe it will be like The Walking Dead. A good adaptation, but with some character and story structure changes.
