No, I don't mean Jeff Jarrett, he's busy with his E-Fed. I meant the King of the Mountain match.
I always liked it. I never had an issue understanding it like others seemed too; it was different but it made Slammiversary stand out and feel unique each year because it was the only time you would see the match. With TNA only doing two proper PPV's a year now I feel they should try their best to make both feel different then any other show they do and I feel the KOTM match would be great to bring back, especially seeing as they are giving away all their title matches on TV: if they do Angle/Lashley again at the show it won't feel special.
Angle, Lashley, MVP, Roode, EY - that's your match. Champion Angle; MVP and Lashley have history; Roode and EY have a never ending feud. Put them all in one match for the title and that solves the problem of having another group of single matches between them which look the same as all the others.

KOTM was pretty cool. I never thought it was all that complicated. The only part I didn't like was the hanging up the belt part. Turn it into a regular ladder match and I'd love to see it come back.

It would make the Kurt Angle show watchable. Then again I'd have to see Kurt win another and I don't want that. Plus Kurt would moonsault off a ladder and break his skull and I'd rather not witness that either.

No. Just do a five way ladder match.
If you want to add the penalty box aspect to the match, fine. If some one gets pinned or submits, they spend a few minutes in the penalty box. But that's it.
None of this crap about people not able to win the match if they don't pin anyone first, and having to grab the title from an Authority figure so they can hang the belt. It's needlessly complicated.

They could still call it that, it's a fine name, but don't hang the belt up anymore. Otherwise, sure, that'd be fine. It's less stupid than the Ultimate X match(too American Gladiatiors for me) and certainly less stupid than the Reverse Battle Royale.

They shouldn't be happeneing on random Impacts like they just did, for example. They should be saved for shows like BFG or Slammiversary. Instead they seem to do about 12 a year, once a month, and it ruins all interest in the match. It's lost its lustre.

King Of The Mountain is such a ridiculous match that I love it dearly from the bottom of my heart.

I'm fine with every single aspect of the King of The Mountain match, except for the hanging the belt up, instead of taking it down. Which totally goes against the psychology of a ladder match.

I'm really asking, has there ever been a good King of the Mountain match? I think I've seen one and it was kind of a mess.
Edit: Looking around, the Slammiversary '07 match got good reviews. It featured Joe, AJ, Christian, and Chris Harris.

I liked the first and second ones a lot. 2006 was bad and had an awful finish. Both of 2009's were really good and provided two very different styles that were both great (X-Division and Heavyweight Division).

I want them to do a literal king of the Mountain match. Just create a hug mound near the entrance way, from dirt or whatever the hell they want, and everyone fights to see who can stay on the very top for the longest time. Exactly like how my brothers and I would do during the winter in our back yard.

The 2009 one was the encapsulation of Mick Foley's whole main event run, in that wrestling wise it was absolute dick, but character wise was relentlessly entertaining - Foley getting deliberately, repeatedly pinned through the whole thing; so funny.

That's one reason the 2009 Slammiversary is one of my favourite TNA shows: both KOTM matches were vastly different from each other and incredibly entertaining in their own ways. The X-Division one was all action and stunts and it was a fantastic watch while the Heavyweight title match was all story and it was highly entertaining.

I loved KOTM, I'd pick EC3 to win.

I'd be fine with it coming back as a once a year deal as long as they switch it to grabbing the belt rather than hanging the belt up. The penalty box gives it it's own spin on the ladder match without doing something unusual just so you can say your match is different, which is what the hanging the belt bit was to me.

As others have said, the hanging the belt thing is a bit too much but making it a ladder match where you have to pin/submit someone in order to be eligible to climb and try to grab the belt would be much better.
