TNA has more merchandise and TV deals than ECW, but does it have the same impact as ECW to the point to where you'll see TNA reunion shows? With ECW, you have a couple ECW reunion shows put out by former ECW alumni and nonstop documentaries. Will TNA even be mentioned as much when they go under? I mean, there haven't been any WCW reunion shows like there has been ECW reunions.

They are bigger in reach and money, but they are a pimple on the ass of the wrestling industry due to squandering any potential they had. Not to mention, they squandered a lot of careers in the process. ECW maximized their positives and minimized their shortcomings, while creating new talents that prospered in other companies.
They will not be remembered as fondly as ECW.

Sure they're bigger, but when and I mean when it dies, it'll be a big joke.
TNA will not be remembered fondly and I give it 5 more years before it finally dies.

Well they are. ECW was far bigger in retrospect than they ever really were.

ECW were the third largest wrestling company in America during a time where wrestling was HUGE. Point goes to them in my opinion.

At the end of the day, ECW will be remembered for changing the industry in such a way that it made two international companies copy a low-rent indy operating out of a bingo hall. TNA, when it dies, will be remembered as one madwoman's vanity project, filled with wasted potential and WAY more chances lost to be brilliant than were taken.

I'd argue TNA is roughly at the same level EVW was at when it went kablooey. But they most definitely squandered their chances to be so much more than ECW ever was.

I'll be honest with you guys. Even if I had empirical evidence pointing to TNA being bigger than ECW ever was, I would never concede it to them.

ECW were the third largest wrestling company in America during a time where wrestling was HUGE. Point goes to them in my opinion. Seriously. Whenever a big ECW star popped up in WWF or WCW, they usually got recognized by a good chunk of the fanbase or they outright said they were from ECW. Who on the TNA roster right now that hasn't already been in WWE would get more than a "who?" reaction if they jumped ship?

Austin Aries but that would more than likely be from ROH Possibly Bobby Roode those are the only two that come to mind

I may be able to concede that TNA is bigger than ECW, but here is a comparison that makes that statement pointless.
WCW was bigger than ECW easily, but it will never be remembered as fondly as ECW. Hell, TNA wont even be remembered as fondly as WCW was.
So yeah, completely pointless statement in the end.

TNA's legacy is two main things: In the mid-2000s, they gave a group of young indie guys a platform to be a true alternative at a time when WWE was still full of vets that necessitated screen time. Even though I've never truly liked TNA from a presentation standpoint and other qualms, I can give them credit for having something unique during this time. The other thing they'll be remembered for is squandering talent and boneheaded decisions/storylines that plagued them from even the earlier days and only got worse as time went on.
I really hope New Japan can gain some traction, because I've really enjoyed watching that show with the really good English commentary track. Seeing AJ there made me realize how much of his career he lost to a black hole. Guy's still phenomenal.

I like how he's not even claiming they're on par with WCW, he's claiming they're on par with ECW.

Well, to be fair, there's a little semantical ambiguity in saying they're bigger than ECW, since financially, it's probably a pretty solid claim. You have to ignore the difference in overall influence, but the point is, you'd actually have to debate him on it. WCW, if he had said that, any number of facts would have disproven him inside of ten seconds.

Well aside from popularity and number of monster trucks I think you could make a claim they have a lot in common with WCW
