"Also, I wore blue pants one time and the Internet lost its f***ing mind. Who needs it?" Kinda proves his point, his attire was more engaging than his story.

His whole OTT douche vibe was more interesting than whatever narrative WWE was peddling at the time. The most entertaining and memorable thing that happened during WM (aside from Bryan winning) was Batista's press conference where he yelled at himself for wearing tight jeans.

But is it hot?! Quick - someone get Hogan on the case. Wont' work. Hogan was shocked that ice wasn't hot, so the writing must make perfect sense to him.

He's got a point. WWE expected him to be a babyface to challenge Orton in the Mania main event. What's the first thing they have him do when he returns? Hug Stephanie and Hunter who had been 'screwing' Daniel Bryan for months. Then Batista wins the Rumble when Bryan wasn't in it. Once WWE gave in and let Batista be a heel, he was actually very good. He's great at being a heel.

Batista to WWE I like to think this was his parting gift to us. As in, his parting gif. "Goodbye, internet. My home planet needs me. Remember me not as Drax, but as the most self-aware creature in the least self-aware business."

He's been kind by merely describing them as "not great"

Batista once he turned heel was f***ing money. Great promos, decent matches even if he was largely being carried, a great look, a great gimmick, and he was over as f***. He got booed sooooo heavily, and I loved it.

Batista is financially set for life, rubs elbows with some of Hollywood's biggest names, and he still wants to do house shows for a fraction of the money and exposure of live television? Huge props to Big Dave.

Not a single person mentioning that the writers themselves probably aren't bad, but are in an utterly stifling creative environment? Okay...

Listening to the overall quality of the writing in promos and backstage skits, the being stifled bit is not the entirety of the problem. Some of them do actually just suck...

Because they are constantly be wedged to write a specific way because a 69 year old man demands they do this. I refuse to blame the writers until it is actually said they have freedom to operate.

That's not a good argument. You can't say it wouldn't be better either.

Which was kind of my point. We have no information if it would be better, worse, the same.
