Basically, I'm doing a fantasy booking project set in mid-90's WWF, which pretty much puts the backstage turmoil on TV. However, I'm having trouble finding reliable information on the backstage powerhouses during that timeframe.
Obviously, there was the Kliq, HBK, Diesel, Razor, Kid, and Triple H. I'm disregarding Aldo Montoya, outside of a small bit role where he gets his ass kicked.
Then there's Undertaker's Backstage Krew, which included Yokozuna, Fatu, Kama, Savio Vega, Paul Bearer, The Godwinns, and Crush. Did I miss anyone?
Then there are the guys The Kliq screwed with. Adam Bomb, Man Mountain Rock, Doink, and The Blu Twins were gone by the time my story begins, but I know there was Douglas, Candido, Bigelow, and LaFitte as the four most prominent. Again, am I missing anyone major?
Now it gets tricky. Bret had his own circle of guys, but outside of Owen and Bulldog, I keep finding conflicting reports on who else was in it. I threw in the Smokin' Gunns for my story, but I just recently saw Duke Droese, of all people, named as a member on another site. Can anyone give me some reliable information on this one?
Although, incidentally, I've seen Vega associated with all three factions.
The factions are really just a catalyst to get the story moving, but I still like to keep my work as realistic as possible.

Could add Vader to the guys the Kliq messed with
Men on a Mission could be with Bret's crew, maybe Jarrett as he was friends with Owen.
Totally stealing this idea btw

I remember hearing from some places that Bulldog was in some sort of Kliq with the Smoking Gunns and I think some lower tier guys as well. Maybe even someone like Bob Holly. Kevin Nash jokes about it in one of his Kayfabe Commentaries interviews. Apparently this group liked to have bandana's in their back pockets or something as a status symbol. Nash compared it to how gay guys with fetishes also do the same thing haha.

If Savio was in all 3, he might be the smartest man in WWE history. He likely passed down his knowledge to JTG and Funaki at an Old School Raw.

Totally stealing this idea btw Well, I wasn't gonna say it, but when Vader shows up, he is teaming with Bam Bam... And I forgot about Mabel and Mo being Bret's friends. They show up, but in an Aldo-esque role. And Jarrett's second run was so short, I didn't bother.

Jarrett was close to everyone and rode with the Kliq, if I remember correctly.

Remember that alliances changed throughout time as well
In the original DX days, the only guys hanging with Shawn, HHH and Chyna were the Godwinns (everyone hated Shawn and his antics). From an old wrestling mag
Credible/Aldo and Spicolli/Radford were Kliq affiliates obviously
Blu Twins were around in 96 as Grim Twins and joined Crush's DOA gang in 97
Smoking Gunns were pretty well-liked iirc. Billy was tight with Austin
Jarrett was one of the guys the Kliq accepted and didnt mess with
Jarrett, Lawler and Brian Christopher have tons of history obviously
Dustin, Austin and Foley were buds, knew each other from old WCW days (also might wanna add Taker and Vader, even though those 2 plus Faarooq later on were probably far from good friends with the others)
Pillman and Austin were pretty tight
Holly, Ahmed, Mero, Warrior, Luger were wellknown loners
New Rockers were tight, also Foley and Snow

Pretty sure Bret mentioned in his book that he was pretty close with the 1-2-3 Kid for a while, as well as the Men on a Mission. Realistically if you go back to like 1994-1995, Bret was pretty close with HBK as well. If I remember right, they were pretty cool with each other until Shawn became a contender for Bret's spot. It seemed like Owen was buddies with pretty much everyone.

Bret mentioned smoking pot and drinking with Rick Rude, Curt Hennig and a couple of other guys that I can't remember.

Have read that Lex really tried to be down with the Kliq and they made fun of him a lot behind his back.

In Justin Credible's RF Shoot interview, he said Duke Droese was in Bret's clique. Duke stole his Aldo mask once and he suspected Bret put him up to it. Then Shawn Michaels threatened to have Duke fired if he didn't give back the mask.

In WWF, Luger was sort of like an older guy trying to be cool, or it may have come across like that, but in WCW, Nash and Hall were hanging out with Hogan, anyway, and it may have made Nash see Luger in a fairer light.
