I rememeber when Jurassic Park was released, the Dennis Nedry action figure was this.... Great likeness, isn't it? Did the designers even watch the film?

I suspect that the makers wanted to start making the toys early, so they went with descriptions from the Michael Crighton novel... I suspect. Cause in the toylike there is juvenile t.rex and and older looking Tim like in the book. But Nedry in the book was still the programmer and not a mercenary like he looks in the figure line.

I remember the Jurassic Park toy commercials before I saw the movie or read the book, from those toy commercials, you'd have no earthly idea what the movie was about.

Maybe they got Nedry muddled up with Muldoon?

Maybe they got Nedry muddled up with Muldoon? Don't think so. I had the Muldon figure, did not look like the actor that played him, but did look like a park warden. My other guess for Nedry is that the toy makers read that he was doing a bit of corporate espionage, and decided to make look like a old school movie spy.

I assume they also might have just not wanted to make a mold for a fat guy and used an existing or modified one.
Besides, that looks like if Hot Toys made a version compared to Terminator Salvation's figure for John Connor.

Looking back at some of those Power of the Force figures especially makes me appreciate the Star Wars Black Series even more.

How about the audiobook of the novelization of film version of The Beverly Hillbillies.
That is a thing that exists.

Platoon: the NES game. Platoon was based off Oliver Stone's experiences in the Vietnam war. This would be the 80s equivalent of making a video games based off Saving Private Ryan or The Hurt Locker or American Sniper. Not to mention that the game itself pretty much sucked.

I hate any toy from a film that has the name of the film written on it.
Like when I bought a Smokey and the Bandit cop car, and it had "Smokey and the Bandit" on the hood.

Going with video games, Superman Returns. It's got Mongul, Metallo, and Bizarro which is awesome for a game to have them, Metropolis has a health bar which is a nice fix on Superman's powers, but it's so f***ing boring and horrible. Also the final boss is a f***ing tornado, yeah cause that's what I want to face as the final boss of a Superman game. Screw Lex Luthor in the power armor, Brainiac, Doomsday, Darkseid, Metallo, Mongul, Bizarro, or General Zod as the final boss, give me a tornado.

Another one from the "design based on early concept for the character", the villain from The Simpsons Movie - Russ Cargill. In the movie.... Toy that came with Burger King meals....
