Hey, Freddie Prinze Jr. worked in creative for WWE for a while. Difference is, I really don't remember WWE being all ike, "OMG Guys! Freddie Prinze Jr is joining our team!!!" He was just another guy, part of a collective goal. This announcement reeks of at least one of two things.... 1. "BILLY CORGAN IS GONNA SAVE TNA!" 2. If you are, were, or have ever become even mildly famous.. and you like wrestling. TNA has a job for you! "Dixie Carter Announces Signing of Pat The NES Punk and AlphaOmegaSin to the creative team" My speculative opinion is that TNA know they need to shake things up creatively but they finally learned their lesson with Russo, and don't know how to gauge creative wrestling writers' talent outside of a scale of "famous + has wrestling experience" so Corgan fit.

But that's also the point- for most people who are on the writers' side of wrestling as a whole, you won't know their names unless they are famous. This is a big problem because in the business world, it's better to be a world-famous failure than an anonymous success, since if you're a famous failure people know you rose to a point where you could be a big name, and were at one point a success. If you're anonymous, no one really knows what you did. On the same token, a famous name is the only ones who'd get the reaction this is getting for a backstage name- and as such, you need failed experiments for creative. You won't get a similar experience short of "Dixie Carter announces a nationwide EWR contest, and the one who has the best EWR diary in the world gets a guaranteed spot on TNA's creative team"...yeah, good luck with that happening.

You make good points, though in terms of writing shakeups I'm not sure it needs to be so public from a business standpoint, and in TNA's case I think they'd be better off playing it low-key because of the amount of times they've cried wolf (things are gonna be different now) and ended up disappointing. I don't know how necessary it is to have a writer with a known pedigree, I'm not saying to hire any one of us who played EWR and has no credible work experience, but to even seek out Hollywood writers, someone with TV writing experience as I'm sure there are guys who would love that job in the field who have ideas. It doesn't have to be in the wrestling bubble but to just audition guys and hear peoples' ideas could be the ticket for them to find someone who can take them places without breaking the bank, and if it fails it's possible they can consider other options while the audience might not even be aware anything changed. This is more of a devil's advocate stance on my part though. I think it's really interesting to see what Billy Corgan will do, even though I question just how hands on he will be. I will give TNA credit that at least with Billy the writing isn't on the wall that this will fail before it happens. With guys like Bischoff, Hogan and Russo and Hogan the burden of proof was on them to show that they had any use in the post-Monday Night Wars world to actually do anything worthwhile. Corgan could end up doing something great, and he might not, but if it doesn't get results you can't knock them for trying I suppose.

"Fans can expect a TV deal in roughly the same amount of time it took for me to release Chinese Democracy..."
No word yet on the rumors of Los Lonley Boys joining Lucha Underground.

Billy has been done with Resistance since November. if he brings in some of his "guys" it would be interesting, seeing Robert Anthony, Mr. 450, Melanie Cruz, and Jay Bradley getting pushes on TNA would be pretty fun. it would be good if he can convince Raven to come in as an agent again like in Resistance.

No word yet on the rumors of Los Lonley Boys joining Lucha Underground. Los Lonely Boys are just the failsafe, Lucha Underground's top choice is Los Lobos.
