Mark Millar in general. I was about to call him the writing equivalent of Rob Liefeld, but then I remembered Chuck Austen. *shudder* A lot of comic character designs from that time don't hold up well, but this is the one that always comes to my mind first: Also, the trend of every video game having to be 3D whether it made sense or not, like 3D games based on 2D animated cartoons: I didn't like most of the 90's superhero makeovers, but this is actually the best Aquaman look to me. The hook hand is maybe a little much, but lose that stupid shirt and the long hair, beard, and outfit are awesome. Heck, thats the outfit he had in JLU, and it worked really well there.

Borat just screams 2006. But to be fair I saw it right when EVERYONE thought that they were witty doing an impression of Borat. Flip Phones (sidekicks, RAZRs, etc.) and Blackberries A Lot of the 70's SNL sketches. Tried re-watching a few on dvd and they were experimental but not necessarily funny.

Master P. He always managed to get talented guests, but he'd f*** the song up by going UHHHHHHHHHHHH in the background and contributing his lame verse. And if there were no guests? Well, you've got 4 minutes of Master P to deal with.
It probably didn't even hold up at the time, but I was listening to him all the time when I was 13 or so.

Mystikal probably holds up better, he's at least had a couple of hits after No Limit stopped being cool.

It happened with comics and some cartoon mascots in the 90s and it happened with video games in the PS2/GC/Xbox era (even though that's a little past the questions timeline) , I'd say the urge to take classic franchises and trying to make the more "hip" , "edgy" , or "Cool" . How dare you mock the Traingle Era Superman comics! Jurgens was the man when it came to Supes. Also, that pic is so out of context. Superman didn't have his powers and had to stop Hank Henshaw from destroying more cities like he did Coast City. What's he supposed to do, go in unarmed? Also, his hair was long because he had been in a Kryptonian regenerative chamber for months. There wasn't a barber in there with him.

Spider-Man (2002) and X-Men (2000) do not hold up at all, IMO. Honestly I'd go out on a limb and say all the early to mid 2000s superhero movies (save for a few like Batman Begins and Sin City) have aged really bad.

Pretty much all of them will age poorly because they rely too much on crappy CGI. The focus is seemingly on quantity over quality with most of the comic book-based movies because they have been the trendy thing for the public to see for the past 15 or so years.

Almost any mainstream comics from the 90's. That was really the era of superstar artists being the focal point of books rather than superstar writers, and it showed in the lack of quality.

I still love Jackass, I hope they keep making it forever. It'll get funnier and funnier the more decrepit they get. Kevin Smith movies aren't nearly as fun for me these days. I thought it was just Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, but I tried to watch Dogma recently. It used to be my favorite comedy movie ever. Now, it's kind of tough to get through the whole thing. I have a feeling Mallrats may be the same way. Clerks 2 is still fun, probably because it's newer. Clerks is timeless and I'd probably still really dig it. Also, Chasing Amy is a more mature and intriguing story (despite the ending) so I could probably still have a blast watching that. I still like a bunch of Strike Back, Dogma, and Mallrats, but as a whole they just kind of drag on a lot more than how I remember them. Dogma and Strike Back really seem... episodic. Like they're a bunch of other films crammed together. I'm a fan of Eminem but I 100% agree about the homophobic aspects of his work (as well as other rappers) having aged badly. I know that Eminem got a certain amount of backlash for this back in the late 90s/early 2000s, but could you imagine what the backlash to such material would be like if he was just emerging on the scene today? It would make the backlash he received back then pale in comparison. I actually admired Eminem for seemingly reforming over this, to the point of flirting with homo-eroticism on a few albums (I still love the 'is that gay?' section of 'Rain Man'). Then MMLP2 came out and everyone's riding his dick despite him being homophobic and misogynistic again, like the previous ten years hadn't happened. Great.

Fall Out Boy - Sugar, We're Goin Down, the other day I heard this on the radio, now it was bad then, but sounds even more horrible now since its so dated.

To be fair Eminem says those things to get a reaction , people are to sensitive That's really not an excuse, you can shock and get a reaction pretty easily without that stuff.

A lot of those "adult" cartoons. There are some that still work (Daria, The Critic, classic Simpsons, Futurama), but stuff like Celebrity Deathmatch, Sealab 2021 (ironically, it was at its best when it was just crazy random humor), all those Spike TV shows are just weak. Heck, outside of the music video riffing, even Beavis and Butthead is pretty dated, and even South Park and Family Guy look tired compared to stuff like Rick and Morty and Bob's Burgers. I got the Daria DVD set back in October and I only got through about three episodes before I put it away and haven't revisited it since. It wasn't... bad? But tbh it was one of the first things to come to mind when I saw this thread. I think it could just be the difference between when I first watched Daria I was in elementary school and now I'm 10 years out of high school, and it's just... hard for me to relate or care about the stories where before that wasn't something I was probably able to conceive of being an issue. I think for modern teenagers/pre-teens, Daria should still work. If the DUFF can work, Daria's way better than that. Few weeks late but I recently rewatched a few episodes and still think it works. Maybe just because in a way I still relate, but I think it's timeless in a sense.
