Since Chris Benoit and Scott Hall have already been mentioned, I'll cite an answer that I've yet to read: Trent Acid, who was one of the most impressive wrestlers who never went beyond the indie level (unless you count ROH as a major wrestling promotion akin to WWE or even TNA).

With recent news I have to add Sunny to the list. Had the potential to be one of the greatest personalities in the business.

I'd say Benoit, but I have to go with my all-time favorite Kerry Von Erich. He had it all to be the major superstar that broke out of WCCW if he wasn't so messed up on substance abuse. Even with his prosthetic foot, he was still a tremendous wrestler with rock star looks and off the charts charisma.

Mike Awesome, with Kerry Von Erich a close second. Awesome had it all, but some of the worst story lines of all time.

Marty Jannetty. He didn't have the mic skills to be a main eventer, but could have been a good reliable upper midcard for years.

As far as injuries go, Super Dragon. I would love to see him wrestle a plethora of people in PWG. Unfortunately his body(pretty much from the top on down) is too damaged to do it. Yeah I miss this guy in the ring so much.

Dynamite Kid, he was just so special in the ring, at least IMO.

RVD - had he not had his weed bust, the WWE could have been vastly different.

RVD - had he not had his weed bust, the WWE could have been vastly different. I doubt that it would have been that much different really, I imagine that RVD would have dropped the WWE title back to Cena or HHH or someone similar and then been ECW Champ for a while until Vince got bored with the relaunch. As for the topic I nominate Misawa. Awesome wrestler that didn't need to land on his head and neck so much to have a great match and tell a great story in the ring.

Maybe not fitting for this thread since it was out of his control but the biggest shame in wrestling is what happened to Bobby Heenan.
