I've noticed that the Basketball Hall Of Fame doesn't get as much hype as the Baseball and Football Hall Of Fame. It's sort of like the Pro Bowl and the MLB Draft. However, I can see why those aren't as hyped as their equivalents. With the Pro Bowl, it's just a terrible game. Because of how football is played, the players don't try as hard for fear of injuries, which leads to boring games. Also, the NFL doesn't have an event like the Home Run Derby or the Dunk Contest. With the MLB Draft, it's time. When players are drafted into the NFL or the NBA, they usually go to the team that picked them quickly. With MLB, most go to their team's minor league teams and usually stay for there for 4 years. So, they don't have an immediate impact on their teams, like draft picks in the NBA or the NFL do. Which is why it doesn't get as much hype as the NBA and NFL's drafts. But, I don't understand why the Basketball Hall Of Fame doesn't have the hype of the Football and Baseball Halls Of Fame. I never hear about who goes in each year, and the only I have was when Michael Jordan went in a few years ago. What gives?

Probably because it's a better, more in-depth Hall of Fame than Baseball or Football's Halls of Fame. This is a blessing because it's great if you love the sport of basketball, but it's a curse since it means that unlike the others being basically the "MLB Hall of Fame" or "NFL Hall of Fame", the Basketball Hall of Fame adds people from everything: Both the men's and women's game and from the pro, college, and international ranks. It's FAR better for the sport since this means you get the full picture of what matters in basketball, but it also means there's far fewer EXCITING Hall of Famers than football or baseball have.

I can't speak for the Football Hall of Fame but the Baseball Hall of Fame has a lot of tradition and is much tougher to get in. Just look who has been voted in the Basketball Hall of Fame and you will know why it doesn't get as much attention as Football and Baseball:
George Raveling - If your voting for a coach who was great at getting his teams eliminated early in the NCAA Tournament then I can see why he should be in.
Dikembe Mutombo - Very good player but not great.
Dick Vitale - I guess screaming catch phrases is considered greatness.
Dick Bavetta - Was one of the refs in Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals between the Kings and Lakers that many believed was fixed.
Ray Meyer - 40 years of coaching and went to one Final Four and won an NIT. Not exactly the definition of greatness.
Phil Knight - He founded Nike and made a bunch of basketball players rich.
Buffalo Germans - have no idea what they did.

You don't really hear much about the Naismith Hall of Fame because there usually isn't much controversy about it.

Dikembe Mutombo - Very good player but not great. one of the greatest shot blockers of all time IMO.

Dikembe Mutombo - Very good player but not great. one of the greatest shot blockers of all time IMO. Only Hakeem has more. Dikembe belongs, he was a dominant defensive force at a time with numerous elite Centers. He was a force when Hakeem, Ewing, The Admiral, Zo, and Shaq were in their primes. Now granted he wasn't on Hakeem's level, but at his best very very few are on Hakeem's level, at most 3 and they'd be Wilt, Kareem, and Russell.
