At 32 years of age and after being extremely into wrestling as a kid, I totally just now figured out that Z-Man was WCW TV Champion. Of course, it wasn't much of a run and he lost it in pretty lack lust fashion, but looking back now it seems like Ol' Z-Man had a rather nice little spot in WCW in the late 80s and early 90s. I recall having his action figure and pretty much using it as a jobber, outside teaming him with Flyin' Brian! I also remember all my friends HATED the guy and were bummed when they were given his action figure by their parents as gifts.
What do you guys think of the Z-Man?

Tom Zenk is the guy I think of when I think "vanilla wrestler". Good, not great in the ring. Decent, yet utterly unremarkable look, just all around "yep, he's certainly existing".

Zman and Brad Armstrong should have been a tag team called "Solid Hands"

I could never find his Galoob toy in the early 1990s. I wonder if it was short packed with the company feeling it wouldn't sell as well. Couldn't be because kids were grabbing them as fast they could.

He was tagging with Brian Pillman when I first started watching wrestling, and because I loved Flyin' Brian, I sort of just loved Z-Man as well. Once that team split up, I completely forgot him though.

He was decent in the ring, I liked his match with Brian Pillman at Wrestlewar 92, and before that getting the crap scared out of him by the pyro during his entrance.

Couldn't be because kids were grabbing them as fast they could. I'm pretty sure I got the normal Z-Man in a two pack with Flyin' Brian! There was a bendy one as well.

I remember liking almost everything about NWA in 1989, except Tom Zenk. He stuck out like a sore thumb for me.
His burial by Ole was the only thing I liked about Ole's booking. He could work, he had a good look, but he was so, so utterly CORNY.
I wondered what an arrogant, I'm good looking type heel run would have been like with him.

I remembered him from The Can-Am Connection. When he was tagging with Pillman, I always expected him to quit just like he quit on Rick Martel.
