I have to give TNA credit. When it comes to catching an L, they really know how to catch that L! I don't know what it says about us as fanbase but every time TNA is threatening to go toes up, it excites people about wrestling as a a whole product. Like, on paper I understand people losing their paychecks are a bad thing. People having employment is a GOOD thing, but when TNA threatens to have that heartattack that will send Red Fox to finally join Elizabeth ("THE BIG ONE") people start getting all atwitter about the good that can come from the ashes. Lessons learned, companies fighting to get that number 2 spot. Wasted TNA talent being free to get bookings elsewhere. It's eciting to start armchair booking, and as I said in a previous thread that's what being a wrestling fan is about to me. Thinking of the possibilities. It's wrong of me to root for their demise as we lose a company that at several points in its life SHOULD have been something great, and at times had flashes of it, but still. I just can't get excited for them having one last go every few months. Just go away, and let something new come about that can right your wrongs like f***ing Sam Beckett from Quantum Leap. I dunno, I'm conflicted. See it is the absolute stupidity that caused the "should've" combined with the outrageous actions of management in taking care of employees and the wrestlers that makes them going out of business seem like the best possible outcome. Yeah, they lose a "job" but they're losing one that was never sure footed, had constant issues with pay, exploited drugged out/drunk wrestlers on live TV, enabled those guys, refused to help with injuries (especially serious ones) and promoted themselves as giving women a chance while paying them so little their champion had to work at a Sunglasses Hut, and that is all off the top of my head.

"You control your own destiny but wait patiently before we tell you what's actually going on with our TV deal and really all of your jobs."
What shit. f*** you, Dixie.

Although he said it in his typical loud, obnoxious manner, Vince Russo is spot-on. This move eviscerates Meltzer's claims that DA was disappointed with TNA's sponsors, hence their cancellation. If that claim were true, DA would not be bringing in an even more low-brow, less-sponsor-friendly wrestling promotion; that does not compute. If it does not compute, it's most likely untrue. If anything, this move demonstrates DA is happy with TNA, and the wrestling business in general, hence expanding on it. Ring Of Honor becomes TNA's opening act, and both promotions grow from the cross-pollination of fans. I, for one, am hoping for crossover storylines, or even a full-blown invasion angle. No, DA was disappointed with their ratings and Dixie's email snafu sealed the deal. ROH is not really low-brow and no less sponsor friendly than TNA. If DA was REALLY happy with TNA, do you honestly think they would strike a deal with ANOTHER promotion? That would've been like ABC striking a deal to air USFL games right before NFL Monday Night Football in the 80s.

TNA dying five years ago would have been a blow to wrestling. Now, it's actually a blessing. TNA talent have more than enough options in terms of promotions to go to (ROH, GFW, Japan, etc), and even HHH has been more liberal with the talent that is signed for NXT (Joe). The landscape is a lot different now, and if anything, the stench of being in TNA is far worse than the prospect of having to look for employment elsewhere. Hell, Jarrett will likely sign everyone that is not headed to WWE/NXT/ROH/Japan.
As someone mentioned earlier, I do feel bad for EC3, as I don't think any other promotion will build the company around him like TNA looked to be doing, but he'll get work elsewhere. He's too good not to.

That's why I don't blame Russo, Hulk, Bischoff, or whoever for TNA being where they are. This is 100% Dixie. Blaming anyone else is just absolving her of incompetence that lead to the company's demise.

I know it's not filmed in Mexico, but Lucha Underground wouldn't really fit DA's whole initiative. Can't see them picking it up. That said, I really hope they get renewed because it seems to me that word of mouth has been creating a lot of interest in that brand. I always see ads on Raw for it, too. They just need to keep showing the ex-WWE guys (Morrison, Del Rio, and hopefully Rey soon) and some of the crazy spots from the "unknowns" to help create buzz for their show.

WHY DONT YOU DIE!!! ITS ENOUGH!!
Also someone mentioned that TNA can benefit from having ROH as an opener, but there's no way that can happen. Casual fans, if they're any, are not gonna have the energy to sit through TNA after watching ROH first. Destination America is not gonna fund 2 wrestling shows, it would be cheaper for them to just stay with ROH who could do the same ratings TNA is pulling, and also why didn't DA told TNA anything?
What I took from the conference call is that they're f***ed. The fact that she can't comment on the relationship is because they're getting kicked off. If they were getting renewed she would've told everyone not to worry.

What I do is use the names of fruits or vegetables that share the first letter with the word I was going to use. For example, Fig that boysenberry, you're too good for her. That currant wouldn't know class if it kicked her in the apple.
...then again, that's typing around the filters. Fig.

Dixie: Hon, the pay issues are in the past.
Talent: Do we have any assurances of that?
Dixie: Sure sug. From now one we just don't pay talent.
Manik: Brilliant Boss lady, that's an awesome plan. Your ass smells of elderberries and lilacs.

...screw it.
When I found TNA on The Wrestling Channel back in 2004, it was the one show there that stuck out to me as actually interesting. This was on a channel that also had ROH, CZW and our own FWA. I followed it when it moved to the more major channel in Bravo, I went to Universal once and bought a day pass just so I could go see Impact getting taped live (the episode where Abyss won a contract in a ladder match and made the Chamber of Blood match, if you were wondering). I got taken backstage for my cheering and actually met with some of the wrestlers and Dixie. I actually might have been responsible for Bravo stopping with their terrible censorship jobs of the PPVs, because I complained to Dixie herself about it and within the next month or so the hackjobs stopped happening. I also got a free hat and an AJ shirt because i was annoyed that Bully Ray snatched mine and threw it away being a heel.
From 2005-2007 in the era of Super Cena, I could honestly say TNA was the one thing that kept my faith in wrestling alive. I've always hoed since then that TNA could become the true rival WWE needed to keep it from becoming terrible. But alas, they stopped trying, and so did WWE.
Gentlemen, it has been an honour watching with you tonight.
Ugh, sorry if that sounded rambly or sappy. I think a part of the 14 year old wide eyed idealist in me from back then just died inside.
