The fact that even in defeat, the NXT crowd began chanting Lynch's music to her, sealed the 4.5 stars for me (i can't excuse botches no matter the gender dammit!!)

I said in the thread that Zack Sabre Jr would probably give the match ***** for the arm work by BOTH woman. I have tweeted him asking for his opinion on the match and woman because I am sure that Lynch especially must have bumped into her on her travels and they showed eachother stuff. I really hope he replies. I saw so many things that she did during the match that Sabre does, it was spectacular.
EDIT Quick Wiki search shows that they were infact in NWA UK Hammerlock together, with Devitt ( one of Lynch's trainers)
So I give this match 5 ZSJ's/5 cross armbreakers/5 ARMBARS/5 everything. Send Trips another fruit basket and send Becky, Sasha and DEATH REY a massive amount of classy flowers!
The fact that they had two arm stories going on at one time, Becky's at the start of the match and Sasha when she got pulled into the ringpost outside later is incredible. Most matches with ring psychology just have one wrestler concentrating on weakining one area of the opponent, but this match had two of those at play! With both woman selling their arms perfectly!
I can even excuse the £botch", because they made sense given the work on the arms. Hell Becky picked Sasha up from the floor after she was unable to catch her off the suicide dive after it hit and they both went to the ground, she then got up with Sasha and threw her into the ringsteps, with Sasha selling it with body language and in the face perfectly. To me it makes sense, but I can see why people would give it a little mark down for it. Wrestling like everything else can and is consumed differently depening on the spectator, especially like an art like it is. These woman PROVED it is an art and is added to history as one of the matches in history that can be pointed at as exhibit A for pro wrestling being a physical and dramatic ART, in every way.

I thought it was phenomenal. I've been a fan of both girls for a long time, but this was outstanding. I thought it was better than the other NXT Women's Title matches on the live specials and that's nothing against those. Sasha Banks has become my favorite professional wrestler. On a show with Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Finn Balor and Tyler Breeze, these two ladies outshined them all. I too thought it was better than the other live special Divas matches, but that isn't much of a compliment given I've never thought any of them were the best matches of their respective cards. The match may've been the best match of the night given everything else was lacklustre, but to say that they outshined Kevin Owens is an overstatement in my opinion, considering the way he was presented, as a beast.

I can see that. I guess that I meant more from a match standpoint. Honestly, nobody has outshined Owens this week. From the confrontation with John Cena to nearly killing Sami Zayn to the staredown with Samoa Joe, he is kind of the biggest thing in wrestling right now.

I don't think any developmental talent in history has had a better week than Kevin Owens since Monday. Confronting Cena, destroying Sami Zayn & now involved in the biggest moment in WWE since Sting debuted. He's gonna have a hell of a year.

I'm assuming Lynch was meant to straight out catch Banks, but instead Banks basically hits the move and Lynch gets her up from the ground as opposed to standing up.

Phenomenal match. Sasha and Becky have always been my favorite two out of the NXT Four, and man did they prove why!

I felt a little tearful when Becky got that standing ovation at the end. They should both be incredibly proud. It was hard-hitting, heated, well-executed and great storytelling. Everything that is great about pro wrestling.
They also happen to be female. I like the Bellas more than most people but damn, they just can't even come close to living up to the standard the NXT women are setting.

I don't know how Lynch still has a rotator cuff after that armbar that Banks had her in. The human arm is not supposed to bend like that!

Honestly I decided last minute to re subscribe just for the NXT special. I watched all the matches, which were all solid, but nothing really blew me away.
Then I saw this match. Damn, what an amazing effort. It's the kind of match I watch these specials for, with a great story to boot. Lynch trying to get Banks to tap out while Sasha attempts to turn the tables and make Becky quit first. And most everything they did played into the match. Very little wasted motion.
Was it five stars? I didn't think so personally, but it easily hit four for me, at least. But I won't argue anybody who rates it higher.
This and the main event presentation easily made it worth my ten bucks.

On the main roster, you worry if the divas match will go past a certain number of minutes and if the performers will be treated with a general sense of respect.
In NXT, you worry if they'll be able to live up to the standards they've set, if they'll be able to tell new stories, if they'll be able to keep the momentum going. They manage of course. They surpass expectations more often than not.
I sometimes get annoyed with how discussions on main roster divas tend to go on this forum but the efforts of the NXT 4 are proof that presentation and an opportunity is all that truly matters. The fact that there are four pages of uninterrupted, raving reviews of the match with nary a mention of physical attractiveness, the fact that such discussions are happening all over the fandom, that's the biggest compliment to Sasha and Becky. That is a difference. That is fundamental change when it comes to mainstream women's wrestling. That is perhaps NXT's greatest contribution at this point.

Hand to God, not only the greatest Women's match I have seen but one of the best matches I have ever seen. I don't know if I'd put it ahead of the Fatal Fourway. But let's think about this, quite possibly the best 4 matches this year in WWE have been the Royal Rumble triple threat, Brock vs Roman, Becky vs Sasha, and Becky vs Sasha vs Charlotte vs Bayley. Brock and the women of NXT.

Easily the match of the night!
One thing was bugging me though: I watched the 2nd half of the show, including this match, with the sound off as I was watching on my phone in bed. Can anyone tell me which one of them was supposed to be the face and which one was supposed to be the heel? Really couldn't tell.
