Hey, I like the AV Club reviews and Latoya is a swell person, so that is mean. How low have the standards for offense gone if even saying "pretentious" is considered "mean"? It's not a flattering term.

I'm watching this as we speak. Absolutely loving it so far. Holy shit, can Sasha ever work a body part. This is tremendous. Yeah, this match had the kind of storytelling that I like to see in wrestling. Just great stuff.

I need to watch Bull Nakano vs Alundra Blayze again to see if that holds up against the Lynch/Sasha match, but it is one of the best female matches in the WWE. I just wonder how crazy this board woud get if they witnessed something from AJW or one of the better Shimmer matches, although one thing this match does have over the last few years of Shimmer shows is a hot crowd as opposed to the tired-after-12-hours-of-wrestling fans you get towards the end of a Shimmer taping.

It was good but if it was men, it would have been standard. We lower expectations for women in a patronising way that they are held as great when men would only be good.
Enjoyable enough match though on a show with quite poor matches overall.
Joe's debut was better.

It was good but if it was men, it would have been standard. "That was good for girls" is absolute BS in my humblest of opinions. Match was bad ass plain and simple.

Good is good, balls or boobs. This was very good to me, not "best of all time" like the hype I'm seeing online. If men had it, those same people would be saying... very good. There is a patronising overhype because it was women involved. Like very good isn't good enough or something. Finn Balor would kill to have a very good match in NXT at some point.

While I agree that patronising over-praising can happen I don't think it applies in this case. I can't call it "standard" when I'm struggling to think of the last time two men had a technical match of that standard with both wrestlers having a clear game plan. Maybe Daniel Bryan vs HHH over a year ago? (Doesn't mean it hasn't happened I just can't think of one) It felt different to what I'm used to it and I think that was a large part of it's appeal, if it took place in another era maybe then it would have only been good. Similarly if you watch that kind of match regularly in another promotion it may not have stood out as much. Hey, I like the AV Club reviews and Latoya is a swell person, so that is mean. Yeah I was a little unfair, although I didn’t say it was bad, I like the AV Club too and thought it was good enough to share. I just thought too much was made of Unstoppable being like an indy coming out party after the likes of Daniel Bryan, CM Punk and Seth Rollins have been WWE champion. However on reflection I forgot she's writing for larger audience than hardcore wrestling fans and in that light it makes more sense.

I couldn't watch the match live because of exams. All the buzz it made and all the praises it received made it look like the women version of HBK-Taker. I mean .. I saw somebody on twitter saying that the match was better than anything the main roster produced in 2015, this includes RR triple threat and WM main-event of course. So sometime later, I watched and it was good, like really really good... but nowhere near what some people make it to be.
The match isn't overrated just because it's a women match but also because it's NXT. Some people really love NXT and always want to show that it's the pro-wrestling paradise that is miles better than the stinky main roster.

I thought it was just as enjoyable as the RR triple threat, plus Sasha/Becky actually had a more eenjoyable buildup imo, so there you see why I claim this match as the best one I've seen this year in NXT/WWE It's not overhyped, everyone who follows NXT regularly and watches the culmination of great feuds like Owens/Zayn, Neville/Zayn, Charlotte/Sasha or Sasha/Becky in fantastic/dramatic bouts is entitled to say that it's a better product for actual wrestling fans, unlike WWE who unfortunately has to cater to others as well (USAN, Vince's personal tastes, stockholders)

The women selling the their arms > Brock running around suplexing people when he's supposed to have broken ribs Of course as a big Lesnar fan you're probably cool with him being even more monstrous which is fine but no-selling to that level is a pet peeve of mine. Although I think the WM main-event was better than both, largely because of the show it was on actually, it wouldn't have had that epic feel at Battleground. You can't discount the importance of the event/build in how much somebody enjoys a match.

Got the time to watch, and i will say its WWEs MOTYC if you dont include Lesnar matches.
It was better than all ROHs matches and most NJPW matches.
Best womens match in wwe history, this match also proved HHH as the new owner of WWE can put the company as the best wrestling company...

If I could find a men's singles match in the WWE this year that was better, I'd agree. I've watched every WWE match this year, and I can't think of one singles match by the men that was better than Sasha/Becky. I thought the Royal Rumble Triple Threat was better but that's it from the WWE.

Best womens match in wwe history, this match also proved HHH as the new owner of WWE can put the company as the best wrestling company... I'd venture to agree with you on certain points. I think the company will be in great hands with Hunter at the helm and I think Becky/Sasha is probably the best women's match in WWE history but I wouldn't say it's better than all ROH matches (I'm assuming you're just referring to this year's matches and not the company's history as a whole because that would be insane). reDRagon vs. The Bucks from the Anniversary show was a damn near perfect match. I'd also say the 10-Man Tag at Global Wars was better too but I could see the argument against that because it was a very spot heavy match. TL;DR Becky/Sasha was very, very good but this statement seems somewhat hyperbolic to me.

I've seen better womens matches, but this was definitely the best WWE one.

It's a matter of opinion anyway. Again, I thought it was excellent. One of the top 5, if not top 3 matches of the year. Regarding NXT as a whole, I would take NXT specials over most of WWE PPVs. However, the same can't be said about NXT weekly shows compared to RAW, especially at the moment. That doesn't mean I'm denying that some NXT storylines are just great, Zayn-Owens is the feud of the year so far IMO.

You can't discount the importance of the event/build in how much somebody enjoys a match. Are you talking about the one from RR ? There was two months between the matches, so.. As you said, Lesnar is supposed to be a beast but still, his selling is great and underrated. Just look at how he sold Reigns strikes toward the end of the match. He doesn't do it much, but when he asked to, he sells perfectly. Regarding the match, yes, from a wrestling stand-point, Sasha-Becky was probably better. However, it's nowhere close to 'Mania main event when it comes to the suspense, the story told and the shock value. When you talk about a pro-wrestling match as a whole, you can't discount these things. And yes, taking place at WM surely helped the match.

I hope they put out a DVD of NXT's best women's matches at some point because that would be a pretty stellar collection.

I hope they put out a DVD of NXT's best women's matches at some point because that would be a pretty stellar collection. Of the same four or five women ad nauseum. Such is NXT's flaw. Only about 10 men and women combined are allowed to wrestle to any quality while others are funny gimmicks.
