It's still ongoing. So far Dean Ambrose, Sami Zayn, Neville, and Owens have been helped by it. I saw the open challenge as WWE's first step in getting Dean Ambrose back in the top mix as he would go on from this to be put in title programs. He was lost in the midcard ever since the Bray Wyatt feud from last year, but since that match with Cena he has been booked as a bigger deal.

The NXT guys. I would have said Ambrose but he was still in the middle of the Harper feud and just now started being booked as a main eventer.

The NXT guys easily. It'll be interesting to see if Owens actually goes over.
I can't really say Ambrose. Dude was already a legitimate star before he got pushed to main event, he didn't need a match with Cena to get him there.

I still have a serious issue with the match structures being absolutely identical every goddamn time, but I'd say Zayn and Owens so far. Neville it hasn't really done much for.

Neville for the fact he was the only one to beat Cena. By DQ technically.

Only the NXT guys. They're the only ones who actually "stepped up" into a higher spot than they were before facing Cena.
This is the one objection I have to the open challenge. A competitive match with Cena should be a rub, but they aren't using anyone who actually gains anything from losing to Cena. Aside from the NXT guys, it's just the same circle of interchangeable "upper carders" who should be wrestling Cena on PPV, not in throwaway TV matches.
Why not just let Heath Slater have a 7-12 minute back and forth with Cena. Right now Slater is booked so weakly, that if he actually beats one of his fellow low carders, that guy looks like a "jobber to other jobbers" and it makes them look bad. But if you let Slater take Cena to the limit, he can take that momentum and either go on a win streak, and there won't be any shame in someone losing to Slater anymore because we saw him go toe to toe with Cena, or he can put over one of his fellow low carders.

John Cena
*not true as this is the most ive enjoyed Cena in forever and the NXT guys have been elevated in this. The only thing I haven't liked about these is the convoluted springboard stunner spots

There is little doubt in my mind that we aren't getting Slater vs Cena at some point and it's gonna either be A) Slater getting squashed or B) Cena losing the title to him.

Zayn is the only one so far. "Elevated" implies that the person is better off after the match. Ambrose, Barrett, Stardust, all those guys were in the same spot on the card after the match.
Then again, the challenge has been going on for...what? Not even 2 months? Kinda hard to elevate people in that short time frame.

Kevin Owens for obvious reasons. Neville because he pretty much looked like he was going to win actually. Sami Zayn for the exposure and performance. Heath Slater for getting on TV.
