Foxcatcher. Like dude was practically the lead of that film. Also the Jump Street Films even though he's a co lead. Fell flat asleep during Jump Street and haven't watched Foxcatcher, but nothing in the trailer made me even remotely interested in seeing it. Though I'd buy he could pull a decent performance in Foxcatcher based on the character he's playing. He's overrated in Foxcatcher. It's the classic "eye candy in a serious role/serious movie for the first time so he's awesome"' gag. He plays a meathead and "acts" the role. The range in the film for him is extremely confined and not a challenge in any way whatsoever. Mark Ruffalo, that's a guy that carries the film and his brother (played by Tatum). Ruffalo "acts" in the film. Tatum does the same mannerism over and over again and just looks around with an emotionless face for a good majority of the film. He actually looks like he's being serious. And that's what people are saying is "good acting." It's like when Great Khali wrestles for over three minutes in a match and people are suddenly inclined to brag about his work rate all of a sudden. Because "it's good for what he's capable of."

Rupert Wyatt, director of "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," is set to direct "Gambit," based on the popular X-Men character.

I always felt Gambit was overrated. He also seems like a character that was popular in the 90s but not so much now. Kind of like Spawn. Seems to late in the game to try to cash in on Gambit.

If that's the budget of the movie than this movie is probably going to bomb and will have no sequels. Plus a 35-50 million Hard R Deadpool movie looks a lot less riskier than a 150 million dollar Gambit movie.

He wasn't ever really right for the part anyway.
Plus, Gambit kinda sucks as a character regardless. A solo movie about him is dumb.

They screwed this up the minute they decided to make Rogue a teenager and have her be with Iceman. Gambit's time was back then.

I was about to post that I hoped Tatum gave more of a shit about this film than he did with G.I. Joe.
I guess he really didn't.

Daggone it. I really wanted to see how Tatum would do as Gambit.
But this means they'll find someone else, someone to fill a role in a film that is supposed to help jumpstart a series of films with fresh new characters or new directions.
Wait...
Oh crap...
Jai Courtney is totally going to be Gambit, now.

Thank the Elder Gods!
The only thing that would have made a Tatum Gambit interesting would be his undoubtedly terrible Cajun accent.

He wakes up and can suddenly charge cards... and scene >_> <_< That's the MCU version. He's not a mutant, he just had a dream about a poker game hosted by Dr Strange and when he woke up he was a "registered gifted".

It was probably something to do with salary. The only reason why there is even a Gambit movie in the first place is because Tatum said he really liked The Gambit character in a interview and Lauren Shuler Donner immediately offered him to play Gambit in a spinoff movie. Like there was no plans for a solo Gambit movie before the interview. So yeah if I was Tatum I might be bit hesitant with how much they were throwing themselves towards him initially.
