I've never seen any of Robert Rodriguez' kids movies. Are they worth checking out?

I've never seen any of Robert Rodriguez' kids movies. Are they worth checking out? They definitely skew more towards the younger audience. I wouldn't call them bad, moreso inoffensive.

This movie looks absolutely terrible.
I remember thinking that at the time... but seeing the clips from the review just really drive home just how terrible.

I've never seen any of Robert Rodriguez' kids movies. Are they worth checking out? I legit enjoy the first 2 Spy Kids movies.

I've always heard that while there's legit love for most of the SPY KIDS movies, there was almost none of that for SK&LG - which I found odd since it was the same filmmakers.

This movie had pre-Twilight Taylor Lautner. Let's think about that for a moment.

There are some movies that I have so little interest in in any way that it's really hard for me to get invested in even seeing them mocked. This firmly falls in that category. Critic is trying, but my brain just can't give me anything more then a "meh".

I just don't get why a film he made for his kids as a gift needs to be given a wide release. Given on how cheap these films are made and how minimal his production & crew is, couldn't he just upload it on YouTube or go straight on DVD or something? It's not like he's making these movies for anyone else and it's not like anyone else wants to see these films outside of his kids and I'm sure they rather have their dad buy them a Xbox or something. It's cheaper than spending a high six figures amount or maybe even a million on a half assed movie.
*checks budget of the film was 50 million dollars*
I'm at a lost for words. I don't even know that's possible. This is actually his second most expensive movie ever only after Sin City A Dame to Kill For. It's his cheapest looking movie and it doesn't have a impressive big name cast. Plus RR is suppose to be a master of doing movies way below budget. I'm at a lost.

This has got to be some of the worst CGI I have ever seen in a major movie. I mean, this was just ten years ago!

I'm pretty sure the movie (much like Spy Kids 3d) was filmed for 3d and a lot of the bad effects were supposed to be 3d effects that jumped at the audience

I remember the marketing for this movie focused mainly on the two heroes and didnt even bring up the whole "power of dreams" aspect.

I don't know if it's the inherent cheesiness or the fact I was like 12 when it came out, but I kinda have a soft spot for Sharkboy and Lavagirl. It's corny as f*** and the CGI isn't great, but I can watch it and enjoy for some reason. Is that weird? I'm not sure.
