In the indies he had a unique promo style and dark charisma that seems like it would translate perfectly to the "WWE" style. This hasn't been the case so far and it looks like they're stripping away everything that made him stand out. Either that or something on Crowe's end? Does the WWE think Crowe has star potential?

In spite of his Indy background, he never seems to be mentioned in the same breath as Kevin Owens and Friends.

In spite of his Indy background, he never seems to be mentioned in the same breath as Kevin Owens and Friends. Kevin Owens, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Ambrose, Kassius Ohno are the God Tiers of Indy prospects. Then there is Great Tiers like Rollins, Zayn, Cesaro of Indy workers. Then there is the Good Tier which is like Evan Bourne, Kalisto, Solomon Crowe, Corey Graves

I only know him from NXT and thought he's sucked since he got there.

Sami Callihan from 2010 onwards was one of my favourite workers on the indy scene. His promo style and look reallyh helped him stand out from the rest and I thought he was a damn good professional wrestler on top of that: check out CZW New Heights 2012 where he wrestles a fantastic one hour Iron Man match with Drake Younger if you want a perfect example of how talented the guy is.
He just hasn't clicked in NXT and I don't know why. It might have been the set back from the injury and being held off TV for ages that set his confidence back. I think if he's given more TV time to work longer matches and to do some promos, he'll be right back on track.

Feeding him to Baron Corbin like two weeks after he officially debuted didn't do him any favors...

I gotta agree with this. I like the hair but I hate his attire. He needs to either wear trunks or get a singlet with legs. The bathing suit look is kinda ass.

I thought he was alright on the independent scene from what I saw, but he has sucked in NXT thus far. He hasn't adapted to the WWE style well at all.

Not really bad, but does nothing to hold my interest.

This Goofy hair style. And he looks like he's wearing a Tarzan outfit with a Jericho jacket. Haven't seen anything involving him on the indy scene so I can't comment on that, but he does absolutely nothing for me on NXT.

There are a few issues and some of that is on Sammi/Crowe. Fact is a lot of the stuff he did on the indies that got him noticed are things he really can't do in NXT due to his size or because they are rather dangerous moves.
The other issue at least to me is that he's coming off as a bit phoney and like he's trying too hard to play a character rather than being himself

He looks stupid and I think he has the worst finisher in the history of our sport. It makes me laugh just thinking about it.

I think he looks fine now that he dropped the troll hair he was rocking the first few weeks.
and The last match he won he was using a submission hold so the slingshot headbutt thing is probably scrapped too.
Also while I only saw a few matches of his as Sami Callihan when he was in CHIKARA but he was never an indy superworker like Owens, Bryan, Hideo, Finn, etc. which is why he's not brought up when people talk about hte big indy workers in NXT.
They also really haven't given him much to do. He attacked Parker a couple of times... then nothing... then he came back lost to Corbin... and then the stuff last night with Owens.
But that's kind of the problem with being in NXT's mid-card as a whole...

I'm intrigued by him but that's more or less because of the little hype I heard of him over the last few years. The look is unique so if that's what he's going for then more power to him but it's not a look I would run with in the ring. He is still fairly young in his NXT career so I want to see how this goes and where he could go. If the hacker character doesn't work then expect HHH to make some changes (ex. Leo Kruger to Adam Rose).

I have a feeling he will slide into a tag team role after the next team gets called up to the main show.

I like his look and I thought he had a good outing on NXT yesterday. He looks like no one that's ever been in WWE before, he has a great promo voice, they just need to feel around and find a good character for him. He hasn't had the time put in to be in the league of guys like Owens and Zayn, that headbutt finisher was terrible but he's never come off as a bad worker to me. I don't think his present situation is as bad as some of you are making it out to be.

Every time a Crowe looks thread/post pops up, I say look at his first few Google Images. That looks badass an he should go back to that.

It's worth noting that when Crowe popped up on WWE's radar, in October 2012, Zayn hadn't even debuted. The NXT 5 existed only in fantasy booking. Hell back then, Hunter's reboot of NXT was just taking shape.
It's still early for him but I do sometimes wonder with all these new signings and tryouts if his ship has already kind of sailed.
