I feel like the only of the friends we did not learn anything in particular about was Twinkleshine.
Minuette was basically the Pinkie Pie of the group. Lemon Hearts was introduced as having a job at the palace. But what about Twinkleshine?

Well, you must be pretty happy. Before you could only go on that one winking moment in the very first episode. Now its established that Lyra actually was Twilight's friend in Canterlot.

You could have prevented all this, Spike.

You could have prevented all this, Spike. Spike inadvertently helped Twilight fix someone's depression. Gold star effort by the dragon

I know, I am just messing around based on Spike's initial reaction to the whole thing. Meet Canterlot's answer to Pinkie Pie...

Now I know what Twinkleshine's thing is...
Spilling her oats whenever she hears about important events.

My score for this episode was going to be a LOT lower because of the subject matter (the rejected bookworm in school).... but for this one I need to put my feelings aside.
This episode was a good tie-up of an open spot going back to season 1, allowing us a "What if?" Twilight had remained in Canterlot as a student. Moondancer's case is a little extreme for my taste (she's just studying for the sake of studying? then how is she making a living?)
What I CAN comment on is that Twilight never tells Moondancer the REAL reason she didn't go to the party but I'm guessing that wouldn't have gone over very well.
I wasn't keen on the easily forgiven part at the end, but that's just my jaded mind.
7.

I agree with this. And here I thought it was a library the whole time... As did I - but I still want to know why no one else was given the space since Twilight had for all intents and purposes moved out?

Won't somepony please help Lemon Hearts? If she'd stop running away like she is they would. No wonder she seemed sad and fearful in her past appearances.

OK, time out from posting vids because I wanted to talk about something, Onee-sama...
When I hear the term "rejected bookworm in school", I see the image of a bookworm trying to befriend other students but getting shunned by the jocks and others because she is "uncool", a "nerd" or what have you, leading her into isolation and, in the worst case, to being pranked by the other students.
But this doesn't work in this case IMHO. She had friends in Twinkleshine, Lemon Hearts and Minuette (and Twilight kinda) who genuinely liked. And after Twilight shunned her at her party, Moondancer shut herself off from having friends despite the others trying for some time afterwards to invite her to stuff but not getting through to her.
So, I don't feel like she was a "rejected bookworm".

Because Twilight didn't know she was going to live in Ponyville
I see no problem whatsoever with the scenario.
