Shawshank Redemption.
No "Clerks" for films to consider?
Can't wait for the next poll. Only one film should be considered for fan's favorite movie of 95. #Odoylerules

On the bright side, Forrest Gump and Pulp Fiction were inducted into the National Film Registry, which I think is the highest honor a film can get; it's worth more than the Oscars. I think most of Gump's criticism was due to how it went against two arguably better received films (in their reviews back then and today) in Pulp Fiction and Shawshank, and felt that either of these two should have won Best Picture. Here's an interesting bit of trivia about Gump, Fiction, and Shawshank: - Tom Hanks turned down Shawshank to appear in Forrest Gump; he was Darabont's first choice
- John Travolta turned down Forrest Gump to appear in Pulp Fiction; he was Zemeckis's first choice, though original author Winston Groom stated that he would have casted John Goodman as Gump
- Michael Madsen turned down Pulp Fiction to appear in Wyatt Earp; he was Tarantino's first choice

The only two movies I've seen on the entire list are Pet Detective and Dumb & Dumber.
I should watch Pulp Fiction and Forrest Gump.
D&D for me.

Pulp Fiction for me but Leon: The Professional and The Shawshank Redemption are also among my favourite films, it was a great year for film.
Ed Wood, Heavenly Creatures and The Lion King are also 5* films and I do like Forrest Gump a lot.

Pulp Shank Ed Wood
I was a HUGE Jim/James Carrey fan from Once Bitten on. When I saw the previews for Ace Ventura, I begged my mom to take me opening night. We got to the theater and it was packed! I knew he was gonna be huge. Then The Mask and Dumb and Dumber gave him the hat trick.

Ah yes, I see the Gump/Shawshank debate has made an appearance (again).
I'll say what I'll say every time: Either film (throw in Pulp Fiction, too)could have won and it wouldn't have been the "wrong" choice.
As for me: Gump, Shawshank and Clerks (why is this not a choice?!?) would be my top 3

Blue Chips, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Chase, The Ref, Maverick, Renaissance Man, Little Big League, Forrest Gump, The Mask, Quiz Show. Yeah, I liked a few films from this year.
I wanted to like Wyatt Earp, but when they hand you two VHS cassettes at the rental store, you start to second-guess your decision.
(I'm wondering if OJ Simpson saw The Chase before he made a break for it.)

Pulp Fiction, but Lion King and Leon the Professional are very close second and third. Interview with the Vampire and Shawshank Redemption would round out my top five, although I do really like Forrest Gump and The Crow.

Pulp Fiction is number one -- not just in 1994, but quite possibly ever. The Lion King was a childhood favorite, as was Forrest Gump. I also liked Clerks and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
Two of my old favorite movies haven't been mentioned yet. I wore out The Flintstones on VHS when I was a kid, although the movie doesn't really hold up now. And then there was Major League II, which was my all-time favorite for years. It's still good, but not great like the first one.
I've only seen bits and pieces of The Shawshank Redemption and The Crow. They're on my must-watch list.

To go into more detail, Lion King is my top pic (in fact, it's one of a few Disney films I think should have earned Best Picture consideration), but Quiz Show, Pulp Fiction and Natural Born Killers are all tied for second. That year was crazy stacked.

Such a great year. It's The Crow for me, but Pulp Fiction, Leon, Shawkshank, and Clerks all make my top 20 favourites of all time, and Ace Ventura is always a great watch.

So many great choices but the childhood nostalgia of D2: The Mighty Ducks gets my vote

The Lion King for me but it's also my favorite movie of all time. Shame it came out the same year as Shawshank because I love that movie as well and hate not voting for it but since we can only pick one, it's The Lion King.

I was way too into Pulp Fiction when it came out. I was a manager at a movie theater when it was released, so I probably saw it at least 10 times in the span of a month and a half. So that gets my vote in this poll.
