Were Strike Force really over? Ive only watched a handful of matches and I cant remember. I am quite suprised they got the belts at all to be honest, that was a pretty hot period for tag teams wasnt it, or was it transitioning into the hot period? Well what is looked like they were trantional champions from the Hart Fondation to Demolition, with Strike Force being the face team in between, though in hindsight if that was the goal, they could have just pushed the Hart Fondation face more early before Wrestelmania IV and have drop the belts to Deomoliton than.

I have a soft spot for Strike Force since the first match I saw was a SF tag match against two masked jobbers. As far as the mechanics of booking, I'd say that the Can Am Connection would have been basically the same thing. Win the belts from the Harts and lose to Demolition.

Yes they were big when they started teaming together.

If that was the goal, they could have just pushed the Hart Fondation face The Hart Foundation turn face? In 1987? That team was so hated that they got death threats. They were booed out of the building that entire year; they were so hated that heel teams facing them (as was occasionally the case after the team won a house show tournament for a shot at the belts) were cheered to the rafters. There was no way that the Hart Foundation was going to turn face after what they and Honky Tonk Man did to Randy Savage on Saturday Night's Main Event. It was only at Wrestlemania IV that their heat died down enough for the opportunity to turn them face as happened, at least halfway, at the end of the battle royal. Even then, it was primarily to test a singles run for Bret and they had to split the team up, at least temporarily, to achieve that. Bret did a singles run in the midcard, while Neidhart was basically jerking the curtain during that time, if they had anything for him at all.

Just wanted to bring up that NAFTA didn't become an official thing until 1994; so unless they were time-travelling heartthrobs, that couldn't be a thing.
(The three leaders signed on it in late-1992 to be voted upon by their respective governments, was finally approved on all fronts in late-1993 to be implemented on January 1, 1994.)

Who are you to doubt Tom Zenk?

Martel was coming off an AWA World title run, while Zenk was only in his 3rd year and yet he had the audacity to try and get the same pay as Martel. He should have kept quiet until he was established.

I don't think they would have gone any farther than Strike Force did, but I'm curious to how a face zenk vs heel martel would have gotten over. Zenk might have had an ic title run as a face if he stuck it out.
