Cole Hamels is now reportedly so desperate to get away from the Phillies, he told the team he'd waive his no-trade clause for a deal to any team. Hmmmm....

Look, I know Ruben Amaro isn't exactly a genius when it comes to these things, but I highly doubt he'll send away his franchise's best asset in exchange for a malcontent shortstop (especially considering Philadelphia's top prospect is a shortstop), a career journeyman, a middle-of-the-road first base prospect, and a washed-up bullpen arm. Any trade that would land Cole Hamels in the Friendly Confines would have to at the very least involve some combination involving the likes of Javier Baez, Addison Russell, Carl Edwards, Kyle Schwarber, Albert Almora, Gleyber Torres, or Billy McKinney.

Many sources in Chicago have Baez as part of any Cubs trade negotiations. Castro rumors have settled but if Cole Hamels is the guy they want, Starlin may be shipped as well. As for the White Sox, anybody want Jeff Samardzija? Guy reminds me of James Baldwin, he's guaranteed one awful inning a game. Of course he coughed up 4 runs in the 8th; he was doing so well until then.

I don't see them giving up Russell or Schwarber. But I'd defining do something involving 3 or 4 of the others you mentioned. If the Phils want more than that, I'd rather see what the A's wanted for Kazmir and Zobrist.

Along with Hamels, Jays are reportedly tire-kicking on Shark and Clay Buchholz.

Cards winning streak up to 6 with the sweep of the Cubs. I like this winning thing. Win 51 in the books.

Even if the Phils top prospect is a short stop, they'll figure it out later.

Good news...the Royals are down to a more reasonable 5 players in the starting lineup, losing 3B and DH.

So the HR Derby is getting a new format: Why did they go and make it so impossibly complicated? What was so wrong with "the guy who hits the ball over the fence the most wins"?
