Alright. Judge Demented here to lay down the law... and to lay the smackdown on all your candy asses! Wrong show, Puddin'. Shh. I really have no idea what the hell I'm doing, so..... In first place, with a combined score of 83 is... {Spoiler} J! Well done, sir. In second place, with a combined score of 75 is... In third place, with a combined score of 65 is... {Spoiler}@irontyger! Insert something witty here. In fourth place, with a combined score of 64 is... In fifth place, with a combined score of 53 is... {Spoiler}@babaganoush! I'm running out of things to say. And in last place, with a combined score of 50 is... So, there you have it. I think I got everything right. If not, you may lynch me.

Okay... I botched the spoilers. Good job, me. The above is like a choose your own adventure, only with less excitement and fewer deaths.

Fun fact: Posting stuff is hard. My thoughts and rankings: {Spoiler} The Cure - Lullaby - Oh, The Cure. I love you already. Oh... this is haunting, magical, dementedly orgasmic even! I approve of whoever picked this song.
Devo - Uncontrollable Urge - DEVO! Woo! I like this song. I find this to be kooky, quirky and right up my alley.
Dishwalla - Counting Blue Cars - I think it's an okay song. Doesn't click with my demented ears though. Does remind me of the show Counting Cars. I need to watch that show again.
Fever Ray - If I Had a Heart - I already like opening. Chilling. Sounds like something out of a horor movie... or my honeymoon. I approve.
Kenny Rogers - Coward of the County - HOLY CRAP A COUNTRY SONG! And I already love this song. Kenny... you so good. I wonder if he's talking about Tommy Pickles? I went there. I approve of this choice. FAN Idol needs more country.
Mariah Carey - Obsessed - This sounds promising. This is promising. I have the weirdest boner. Okay, did not expect that bus. I like it.
Marnie Stern - Nothing Left - Solid opening. Harley, is that you? I like the beat. I kinda like it.
Muse - Space Dementia - I love the piano opening. These lyrics speak to my demented heart. Kind of romantic in a way. Already started singing along with it. Dat 5 minute mark...so good. I approve of this.
Nick Lowe - Cruel to Be Kind - Well, aren't you a cheerful beat... Why is my head moving to the beat? I blame my demented mother raising me on 60s, 70s and 80s music for me liking this song. You gotta be cruel... to be demented approved.
The Original Caste - One Tin Soldier - And you win. You win everything. I know this song by heart. One tin soldier rides away...
Panic! At The Disco - Mercenary - Like the beat. I AM BATMAN! No! I AM DEMENTED. Yeah. Much better. I like it.
Seven Mary Three - Water's Edge - Haunting. I don't like it when he shouts. I mean, like, I like the song, but his voice when he screams is just throwing my ears off.
01. The Original Caste - One Tin Soldier 02. The Cure - Lullaby 03. Muse - Space Dementia 04. Nick Lowe - Cruel to Be Kind 05. Kenny Rogers - Coward of the County 06. Fever Ray - If I Had a Heart 07. Devo - Uncontrollable Urge 08. Mariah Carey - Obsessed 09. Panic! At The Disco - Mercenary 10. Marnie Stern - Nothing Left 11. Seven Mary Three - Water's Edge 12. Dishwalla - Counting Blue Cars

Notes: {Spoiler}The Cure - Lullaby (AFN) - Kinda cool, kinda boring. Good bass and percussion. www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4127EDkZRwDevo - Uncontrollable Urge (Demented) - Devo, man, never got the recognition they deserve. Weird ass, I dunno, proto punk stuff here. Repetitive, carried on Mark's vocals. Boppy, beach party stuff. www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8UcpmUQkNUDishwalla - Counting Blue Cars (AFN) - Loved this songs for ages. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Clxtg2pFTQMFever Ray - If I Had a Heart (Demented) - this is building to something, right? Trying to bribe the judges with skeleton girls, dirty pool! All valley, no peak. Felt like it wanted to build to an explosion, and just puttered out. Like a teenager getting a handy in his room from his girl friend, and they hear his parents coming. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBAzlNJonO8Kenny Rogers - Coward of the County (AFN) - really embraces the concept, 3 perspectives, and the shortest is the singers. Lyric video! Classic song. Straight up story telling, something I love and part of what spurred on this theme. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFsu7apX2DMMariah Carey - Obsessed (Demented) - Nick Cannon's theme song! Everything is put together incredibly well(except some of the vocal effects, barf), but it is so sleek and sleek that I don't feel emotion of the song. The layered vocals are nice. www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1Yt0xJKDY8Marnie Stern - Nothing Left (Demented) - DISCORDANCE! I think this is what Demented hears when he listens to Gwen Stefani. Well, this song has no consistency. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iq1omYjyQqMMuse - Space Dementia (Demented) - This opening is the shit. It builds.. to SOMETHING! Cool as hell music, vocals are a bit wackadoo. Nice slow down/quiet down. Dynamics, mofos! That piano bit is boss. This song is all over the place in a cohesive way. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bNnekk2_Yk&app=desktopNick Lowe - Cruel to Be Kind (AFN) - Man, haven't heard this in ages. So British it fricken hurts. Group woo ooohs. I can dig that, sucka. www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0l3QWUXVhoThe Original Caste - One Tin Soldier (AFN) - great song, but I have other versions of it. But musically it is a lot of great stuff. Not as strongly tied to theme as I would like. www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-wuly-XRXQPanic! At The Disco - Mercenary (AFN) - Fun song, great tempo, fits the theme well enough. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EJxwkmybSw&app=desktopSeven Mary Three - Water's Edge (Demented) - Why was the opening skit so loud, but the song is super quiet. And Why do they sound like they are biting Live's jock? Kind of just there as a song. And it rolls right in to Dishawalla... Talk about coming full circle. www.youtube.com/watch?v=an0VNmQrO0k{Spoiler}Kenny Rogers - Coward of the County Muse - Space Dementia Nick Lowe - Cruel to Be Kind Devo - Uncontrollable Urge Panic! At The Disco - Mercenary The Original Caste - One Tin Soldier Dishwalla - Counting Blue Cars Marnie Stern - Nothing Left Mariah Carey - Obsessed The Cure - Lullaby Fever Ray - If I Had a Heart Seven Mary Three - Water's Edge Nothing stood out as blowing me away, but the worst song wasn't terrible, just kind of a "oh, that exists" song. Nothing wrong with it, Nothing right. Marnie Stern really stood out in that that song used a lot of really difficult techniques and used it mostly well, but it needed to be cleaned up a bit in sound quality. A song that is impressive, but I can understand people flat out hating it. From Panic to the Cure, it was all really close, with minor flaws doing a lot of the deciding along with some emotional resonance/reviewer's tilt.

sent in songs for the next round. tbh they were more like what the hell, why not picks as I'm certainly in the singoff (BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, if you can't appreciate Dishwalla, then you are in some sort of Denial I'll TELL YA!) but based on how well one song did for a contestant earlier in the round, I think one my upcoming songs has a fighting chance

1. Devo - Uncontrollable Urge 2. Marnie Stern - Nothing Left 3. The Cure - Lullaby 4. Seven Mary Three - Water's Edge 5. Fever Ray - If I Had a Heart 6. Muse - Space Dementia 7. The Original Caste - One Tin Soldier 8. Nick Lowe - Cruel To Be Kind 9. Kenny Rogers - Coward of the Country 10. Dishwalla - Counting Blue Cars 11. Mariah Carey - Impressed 12. Panic! at the Disco - Mercenary Song rankings 3-9, I had a really hard time with. ALL TERRIFIC songs. At the end of it, someone gets 9th (which can hurt in the overall points) and someone benefits from being 3rd and 4th. I apologize. It's just crunch time, and everything is so good. A 7th, 8th, 9th place ranking that I did NOT want to give. It's just that someone had to get those slots, and I used several criteria to try to justify where to put them. Doesn't make it any less difficult. Just a great bunch of songs.
