Does Dresden Dolls qualify? 2 voices, drums and piano? That is 4 instruments, not 3.

I personally accepted all songs but judgement overall lies in the judges

Yeah, I just got to that one and was coming to edit my post. And it is a way worse offended since the voices are standing in for instruments. Not sure how I feel about this.

Nico Vega breaks it too, and Avril. those two maybe mislabled. there's also one song that sounds more like keep it simple but is labled for the sports category

At any rate, you can make a case for Enya not being simple either. Sounds like drums, her voice, that wooom thing, and a second voice at certain times. So only one song potentially meets the criteria, the Ball and Chain tune.

Shrugs. Ask Knailsic about the category rules, as it was his idea.
My take on it? The judge has the right to rank the songs lower due to having multiple vocalists, but that's splitting hairs. Once the Host accepts a song, it's good to go unless it's a repeat artist or a song that has already been used. Either way, it's up to the Host to tell if a song is legal or not and not a player.
It's also not in the spirit of the game, imo. Saying that you can't have multiples of an instrument being used takes out way, way too many songs. No offense to the category but only three instruments essentially takes out most rock songs as it is because they can't feature a bass guitar unless it's something specialized, like Bootsy Collins as a solo artist or Death From Above 1979, who wouldn't qualify because sometimes the drummer sings a bit in their songs. There should be a challenge to the Round categories but if it becomes too difficult and everyone has to rely on, essentially, outlier songs, then the game loses a lot of it's appeal.

The world of 3 or less instruments is huge dude. Some of the other categories are way more limiting than this was.

thing is its a bit misleading in how a player interprets it. 3 instruments may mean that more of the same one could be included. But whatever, we're slumping to the finish and I just want to move on win or lose. It is what it is.

I didn't get a chance to listen to songs until now, or I would have brought it all up sooner.

The world of 3 or less instruments is huge dude. Some of the other categories are way more limiting than this was. Right, but you have to then factor in a few of the rules: 1. Can't use songs already used in Past Seasons. That's 9 Seasons worth of songs. So, any song ideas that one has that appear on that list is gone. 2. Typically, you can't double dip. You can this Season but one judge has already said that he'll penalize those songs. That eliminates more songs. 3. Can't repeat artists in a Round. So, if someone else uses your artist first, you're out of luck. Not denying that there are plenty of 3 or less instruments songs out there, but it's still very limiting. Not taking away from anyone's opinion, but I've spent a lot of time thinking about categories for this thing, running about 70 categories the last two Seasons. Yeah, the Round is doable but, if you get really technical about things, the category starts to limit what you can do in a manner that I think frankly is too much for this game. You could have the same effect with the "Stripped" Round and see much greater variety in songs. Three instruments only is just begging for a person playing one instrument and singing.

Then maybe from here on out categories need to be broader and/or less technical.

Called out for being convoluted and pedantic around page 8 or so. Effectively ended me on this game in terms of offering comments and participating like I usually do.
And now it would seem others might be seeing/feeling what I felt earlier. I'm just glad I'm on the outside looking in. Game got first stages of hijacked around 30 or so pages ago.

Asking for clearer rules goes hand in hand with thinking things are convoluted, and clear rules that aren't punitive keep things from being pedantic. Those are the things I want. But is seems rules are left up to the judges.
I am also pretty proud that I seem to be a successful hijacker.
