It's all become just too damn common. Come on Dean. 1 in 10 matches would make it more impactful.

It was stupid when Nigel McGuinnes did it, and it is stupid when Ambrose does it. I came to post this exact thing. I would appreciate it if you no longer read my mind and then went back in time to post my thoughts before I can.

I always think counter type moves like that should be big match only, otherwise it looks stupid if the other wrestler keeps getting hit by it. Like Triple H's back body drop counter... cool move, but anyone with a bit of common sense wouldn't go for a body drop against Trips. Moves like that should be rare occasions only.

Half of his "offense" needs to go. His punches and kicks usually look like absolute garbage.

To be fair, people did manage to hit Triple H with back body drops quite often, but almost exclusively in countering the Pedigree.

I kind of blame Ric Flair for this... because he had the style that he would ALWAYS do ALL of his spots in his matches. The Flair flop, the top rope throw reversal, and (when he could do it) the Flair flip would be in every match he had. From what I remember his reasoning was he loved some wrestler who had a signature spot... and the one time he went to see him live and he didn't do it... and he was crushed and he didn't want any other fan to feel that way... but it's a completely different environment now... at that point you weren't seeing the same wrestlers on tv at least twice a week... and since we are these cool signature spots become massively telegraphed.

It's a good out of nowhere spot to start the comeback in a big match but when done every match it just looks stupid.

The title of this thread really made me think of that old Chris Rock routine.
'There's two kinds! Clotheslines, and LARIATS. And LARIATS have GOT to GO!'

It's so weird to me how many of Nigels moves he took on randomly. The clotheslines, the little corner bounce and charge back across the ring...

I don't mind the Clothesline. It usually is a pretty impactful one, and I actually dig the lack of grace he brings to the Nigel.
What is dumb is when he'll have a routine match on Raw, and it's almost always the first one gets reversed, and then he'll hit the second one. The fact that it's ridiculously formulaic flies in the face of Ambrose's unpredictable character.

I think it's great, just do it less often. It's especially annoying when he gets stopped doing it earlier in the match, then hits it later.
It's like Orton's 2nd rope DDT or the 619, a really neat situational move that gets shoehorned into every match and ends up looking stupid.

Well you never know what you'll see more often during a WWE show. Dean trying this move or Paige yelling "This is my house!!!"

A lot of things bug me about WWE these days, but this move isn't one of them.
I know it's kind of overdone to say a move is no more stupid than Irish whips and running the ropes, but ... really, it's no more stupid than Irish whips and running the ropes. From a "wrestling physics" standpoint, it's fine.

In rare occasions where he could set it up quickly and execute it, it'd be fine. It's when it gets really contrived that it looks goofy. It's that way with all moves really. You want stuff to look as fluid as possible.

The fact that he feels the need to hit it every match is the annoying part.
