One thing I've always liked about wrestling is when the careers of multiple wrestlers become entwined for whatever reason be that the Hart Family, The Cliq, the WCW cruiser-weights, the TLC guys, the Smackdown 6, that OVW class or many others.
I think the stories you can tell are better, the rivalries/alliances feel more real and it usually results in them pushing each other to greater heights. If you can see them journey from the bottom of the card to wrestling for the world title all the better.
Largely due to WWE squandering a generation of talent it doesn't feel that's happened in recent years.
Now though you have The Shield guys, The Four Horsewomen and The NXT 5 (/6) all on the rise and if all goes to plan they'll be defining each others careers for years to come.

The difference between some of those past examples and the current day is that the current day guys will be wrestling eachother once or twice a week on TV, every week, making it less special.

You forgot Bray Wyatt and any babyface who The Authority might have to put over sometime.
