Because I hate the whole "lolz it's just a dumb movie leave your brain at the door!" argument. If I'm watching a movie, I'm generally going to want my brain. I just hate how it basically argues that all big dumb action movies have to suck. Die Hard was a big dumb action movie. Aliens was a big dumb action movie. Demolition Man was a big dumb action movie. Commando, Iron Man, Terminator 2, The Fifth Element, all big dumb action movies. Big dumb action movies can be awesome. It's not a shield from criticism to call a movie one. Oh definitely, it's the same with kids movies. "It's made for kids, kids like dumb shit". Kids are smarter than people think. Show a kid "Up" or "Frozen" then show them "Knucklehead" and they'll tell you which one is better.

I don't see how "Knucklehead" is really considered a kids movie, when there was some gross-out humor and seeing Melora Hardin and that one woman in a state of undress in one scene. Hey, not that I am complaining about the latter.

There is never any story in his movies. When a protagonist needs a solution, one always magically appears with no back story.
In Ninja Turtles, one of the Turtles told Megan Fox to hit the morphine button while they were captured, and lo and behold there is a giant morphine button for her to press. The logic in that scene (and many others from his movies) drives me nuts!

Hey, not that I am complaining about the latter. Gross out humor is heavily associated with kid's media in general. Garbage Pail Kids, Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, etc. As for various states of undress, I've never really seen that as a deal killer.

I avoid a lot of his movies, but The Rock is a super fun action flick and I liked Pain & Gain. But you want to hate Bay? Do it for the right reasons. When The Island came out Scarlett Johansson offered to do nudity and was Bay turned her down to keep a PG-13 rating. ohhhhh, he should get 15 lashings for that. what is it with movie studios mainly focusing on PG13 movies now?even terminator 3 was PG13 as was the next to the last die hard if memory serves. i know it's easier for kids to see PG13 movies than R, so they make more money. but some times it's nice to have an R rated movie where kids can't b in there with their friends acting dumb during the movie

His next movie should be called Scaped Goat.
John Scaped is a US Marine (played by Shia La Boeuf) whose wife (played by Megan Fox) is killed by a top secret black ops organisation called GOAT (General Operations and Armed Tacticians) who are a rogue force within the US government. Eventually he teams up with a renegade GOAT agent who has switched sides. The renegade agent will be played by Megan Fox (the twin sister of John Scaped's dead wife).
A stereotypical black man will also appear for some reason, spouting demeaning catchphrases like "yo brother" and "that's whack!"
The movie will end with a fluttering US flag against a sepia toned sky.
The flag then explodes!

I can understand why some people don't like his movies. My best friend and I saw Pain and Gain and we both didn't like it, while we both liked Transformers 1 and 2 just fine when they came out. Some people accuse him of making the shakey cam so widely used, but he didn't invent that gimmick. He's not responsible for other directors copy-catting him. No reason they can't find their own techniques.
What I hate are the film snobs who call him a racist, or say that all of the people who love his movies are idiots. No, anyone who judges people's intelligence by what movies they watch is an idiot. The only dumb Bay fans I know of are those morons who sent Roger Ebert hate mail.

To be fair, most all of the people I know who like his movies are in fact idiots. Also, the TF movies have a good handful of racists or at least insensitive no sense, so it isn't a big leap. On another know he is a jackass for the way he talks about women, seriously, keep that shit private.

By that logic, he could have found his own techniques and not abused the shaky cam. He didn't invent it, but he sure as hell abused it, to the point where any of the power that directors like Spielberg gave it has been long lost. That, along with the quick cuts and closeups, make it a lot harder to follow his action scenes in his action movie.

I have a feeling most people don't feel nearly as strongly as they appear to when it comes to anything. There's something about the internet that turns everyone into drama queens. I think these things come of as bandwagon-y because of the tone people use when discussing stuff like Michael Bay, Nickelback, whatever.
At least that's what I tell myself. Otherwise people are really sitting at home fuming about what other people like haha

Every movie produced by bay is awesome. I dont understand the hate for tmnt. The turtles were ugly but beyond that it was decent. The sequel looks amazing.
The horror remakes have all been good.
The movies he directs aren't much more than dumb fun. If that's what you wanna call it. I liked the island. I liked pearl harbor. The rock and Armageddon were good too.

You do not need to be a film snob to see the racism in shit like Skids and Mudflap. My favorite part about that is being in the theater with a bunch of black folks and their reaction. WHich started with "AWWW HELL NO!" and got to "Them motha f***in robots is the color of watermelon, THE f*** IS THAT SHIT!" The only reason I liked any of that movie was because of the audience I saw it with. Because I hate the whole "lolz it's just a dumb movie leave your brain at the door!" argument. If I'm watching a movie, I'm generally going to want my brain. I just hate how it basically argues that all big dumb action movies have to suck. Die Hard was a big dumb action movie. I was thinking about this and I think the difference is this: The movies you listed are made to be kind of dumb and fun, Bay's treat the audience like they are the dumb ones.

There is more life in Michael Bay movies than in Tyler Perry's movies. As someone who had to sit through Tyler Perry's movies, I can tell you that it gets tiring watching the same trite "woman has issues with her husband, meets a nice man with values, cue drama, then resolution with a cameo from Madea". Tyler Perry's movies do not belong on Comedy Central, but rather on Lifetime. I have more respect for Uwe Boll who at least tries and fails 100 percent of the time than some dude who recycles the same storyline. I'm the kind of guy who would rather watch an FMW explosion match than Michaels vs Bret at WrestleMania 12.

The Rock was pretty okay
Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and Transformers were POS movies, anyone who enjoys this totally mindless, brainless, unoriginal, schmaltzy, overly patriotic, lowest-common-denominator action porn BS...Idk man, switch to legos or puzzles or something

I also reject the whole notion that you need to turn your brain off or whatever to enjoy his films. As if other films are a brain workout without any plot holes and shit.
